I watched the filming.
I watched "Yankee Doodle Daughters" being filmed. The scene with the Jeeps and Daughters were on the stage of the replica Globe Theater in Balboa Park in San Diego. That scene was filmed the week of 13 March 1945. The outdoor marching scene was also filmed in Balboa Park. The sound was prerecorded, and the action was shot afterward. The Jeep scene was filmed with the camera on a dolly that ran down a track laid along the center aisle of the theater. In the scene you will see a ventriloquist on the stage. In one take of that scene, a girl's skirt got caught on the bumper of a Jeep and the scene needed another take.
This is a good recruiting film from WWII. I have seen the completed film only once, in 1946, but would like to get a copy somehow.
Balboa Park was the location of the Naval Hospital Corpsmen training school where I attended from December 1944 to April 1945.
