This was the first DePatie-Freleng Dr. Seuss special to be an original story, not based on a Seuss book. Nevertheless, he recycled a number gags from various books. The "bedroom...here...bathroom...here" gag is from Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? (1973). The battle of Tweedle beetles in a bottle on a poodle eating noodles is from Fox in Socks (1965). Mr. Hoober-Bloob is a lookalike of the doorman in I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew (1965). Other gags are reused from Scrambled Eggs Super! (1953), On Beyond Zebra! (1955), and If I Ran The Zoo (1950).
This is the last special to be produced by Cat in the Hat Productions and to feature the short version of the 1971-1975 Cat in the Hat Productions logo.
All the characters do not have horseshoe shaped eyed pupils.
