"Kung Fu Kenobi" is an interesting test movie, it can be seen as the test movie for Evan Mather's later 'Star Wars action figures' movies. In 1999 Evan Mather made another Kung Fu Kenobi adventure called "Kung Fu Kenobi's Big Adventure", it's pretty much in the same style as this movie and both have a fun and fitting soundtrack.

It's a kind of weird movie but fun at the same time. I especially like the slow-motion scene. A fun and greatly made animation movie.

Masterpiece miniature, starring Kenner figures

Not only has the Jedi Master Obi Wan been a student of the force for all these years, but he's also found the time to develop his other interest of Kung Fu!

These films are actually quite brilliant in their own little bad-resolution and troubled sound quality sort of way. The stories are the strong point, being a lot more imaginative and executed than many a more professional Star Wars spoof. And the music is a perfect choice, combining the imagery of the Lucas universe with the disco style of their true era!

And if anyone who has ever encountered the Kenner figures can honestly say they have not for themselves had Obi Wan develop a more hands on and martial arts oriented attitude and add other embellishments to the characters and plot of the saga, then you can feel ashamed of yourselves! Especially if you had the number of them seen in this series of short films.

If only these came in a higher resolution file! And if only George hadn't already finished off Episode II without seeking assistance from the creator of this!!

Short and sweet

Contrary to popular belief, "Quentin Tarantino's Star Wars" was not Evan Mather's first film. This brief film with Kenner Action Figures was the inspiration for "Kung Fu Kenobi's Big Adventure", and doesn't have much of a plot at all. Mather was expirimenting at this point, and karate moves seem like a perfect idea to master this unique style of animation. There's not much to critique; the animation is good and it's fun for the soundtrack, which includes the "Kung Fu Fighting" song. Recommended for fans.
