The English title "The Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors" is a reference to Marcel Duchamp's glass artwork "The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even" made between 1915 and 1923. Like the film, the work of art is split into two halves: the upper belonging to the bride and the lower belonging to the bachelors. Also as in the movie, their relationship is ambiguous but presumably sexual.
The bulk of the movie was filmed in sequence. This includes multiple scenes set at the same location, which would normally be shot together for the sake of money and convenience.
