A cooking special where you don't learn much
mattc-65 January 2001
A cute side episode of "Can't Cook, Won't Cook", which features host Ainsley Harriot being brought aboard the Red Dwarf shuttle Starbug to determine which of the Dwarfers (Kryten and Lister versus Rimmer and Duane Dibbley) can make the better curry. Ainsley is just as much a character as the members of the Red Dwarf crew are. Don't expect to get a recipe out of the program, but it's worth seeing for the interaction between the chef, the actors and the characters.

Best episode of the dull cooking show!
davies-135 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This spin off of 'Cant Cook, Won't Cook' is the best episode of the rather dull show was made for Red Dwarf's 10th Anniversary and I have to say, it is hilarious. Kryten & Lister vs. Rimmer & Duane Dibbley (Cat's alter Ego) and the unlucky taster is Kochanski. Un-fortunately i missed this when it was aired but it's on my Series IV DVD set. This episode is funny because the host Ainsley Harriot, a guest star as a Gelf on RD, was tricked by Dibbley and was constantly shouting at the cast because of their in-ability to listen, also he was the but of many jokes from Lister (Craig Charles). This Episode of the Cooking show is a Must See for 'Red Dwarf' Fans!

Funny
I really enjoyed this. I don't usually like watching people cook, but this was an exception. Every few seconds, something funny happened, and kept it interesting. The jokes were perfectly intertwined with the cooking. I've seen it a lot of times (on my 4th series DVD) and I laugh every time. The characters stayed true to the series, as did the jokes. Cat's make up and hair looked a bit off at the beginning, but since he had to 'change' really quick, it is forgiven. The pairing of the people (Rimmer/Duane and Lister/Kryten) was funny. I loved how Ainsley (the cook) kept getting mad because they couldn't do anything right. Each character had a lot of funny moments, which I enjoyed greatly. Kriss kept watching the cooking with this look of horror, that made me laugh out loud. Rimmer cheating also fits his character very well. I would recommend this to anyone!

great fun

This must be Ainsley Harriott at his best. He is having such a great time with the Red Dwarf gang that it seems to bring out the best in him. When he isn't swiveling or singing, he's joyfully barking orders in his charismatic cookery way. Danny's Duane Dibbley was never better! Rimmer is smug and slimy, Kryten is hilarious and Lister is classic Lister...but all in good taste (ahem)...

the recipe works

This is not only a fun Red Dwarf bit, but a useful one too!

I have used the recipe quite a few times, and it is good! Word of warning though, don't try to cook while watching it (and who can cook when you are laughing?). Get the ingredients and instructions down on paper first.
