With Cinderella's Prince Charming and Tinker Bell both getting movies of their own, it seems a no-brainer that one of Disney's most popular "secondary" characters gets his own spinoff. However, as much as we'd like to celebrate the news that the mouse house has announced plans for a live-action comedy that will reveal how Genie wound up in Aladdin's lamp, part of what made the character so special was the manic and bonkers energy that Robin Williams brought to the character. Genies will see a journey into the world of the mythic beings and explain how this particular blue magician ended up trapped inside the tiny lamp. If all goes well, Disney want this to lead into a live-action Aladdin movie. So far these live-action retelling of their animated tales have proved big business, and we already have Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan and The Jungle Book on the way.

Disney is planning to explore the backstory of Aladdin's lamp-enslaved Genie in a new live-action movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Genies will serve as a prequel delving into how Genie became the bearer of three wishes.
The comedy adventure is being penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, with Tripp Vinson on board to produce.
Genies is in the early stages of development and is expected to come ahead of a live-action retelling of the main Aladdin story as well.
The Genie was voiced by Robin Williams in Disney's animated movies, with the exception of 1994's The Return of Jafar when Dan Castellaneta temporarily stepped in.
Disney has several other live-action remakes in the pipeline too, including The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Mulan, Pinnochio and a tale about Prince Charming.

In "Project Almanac," a twisty time travel thriller produced by "Transformers" overlord Michael Bay that opens this Friday, a group of teens stumble across a time machine, although it may as well be Aladdin's lamp, the way that they devise new and increasingly clever ways of utilizing folds in the space-time continuum for their own personal gain. In a way, it is one of the more believable time travel stories out there, because if teens were to gain access to this technology, chances are they'd use it to win the lottery or go to Lollapalooza and not, say, kill Hilter or prematurely end Vietnam.
In our exclusive clip, you get to see the kids really playing around with their newfound powers in a way that only kids would.
This clip shows the group getting back on some bullies that dump a giant soda on Christina (Virginia Gardner), since apparently this...

Robin Williams was in the early stages of Parkinson's disease at the time of his death earlier this week, the actor's wife, Susan Schneider, said in a statement, Deadline reports.
"Robin’s sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson’s Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly," she wrote.
Thanking everyone for their expressions of kindness in the wake of his passing, Schneider wrote that Williams "wanted us to laugh and to feel less afraid,...

Once Upon a Time Episode 7 Review: A Huntsman's Sad Tale
This week's Once Upon a Time delved into a specific character in the Snow White tale: the Huntsman.
As it turns out, Sheriff Graham is the Huntsman. But before we tackle that development (which most fans had correctly predicted), we need to rewind a bit. In the fairytale world, Snow White's father had just died. Some of you (including myself) who hoped that the death of Snow's father was the cause of the rift between Snow and the Evil Queen were disappointed. While Snow was clearly grieving her father's death, the Queen was only pretending to comfort her stepdaughter. You see, whatever the reason the Queen hates Snow, it happened before the death of the King. In fact, the Queen herself is responsible for having the King killed. In her words, "one down, one to go".
But the Queen can't just outright kill Snow,...

Warning - This is a review more than a recap so it is longer and I compare it to future seasons. Do not read if you have not watched through season 5 unless you want to be spoilered. I don't pretend not to know what happens in future episodes here like I usually do when recapping old episodes.
Preface - This review comes because someone asked why What Is and What Should Never Be is my favorite when I shy away from the emotional. Therefore it is more personal and more biased. Hey, I said it was my favorite. To appreciate why it resonated for me, you need to know where it and I were in season two overall. The beginning saw the brothers grieving John's death, the first extended overload of angst in our previously "no chick flick moments" show. It also saw the rise of Super Special Sammy and the other Special Kids,...
