The star of a joint Anglo-Chinese climb of Everest, Joe Borrow comes home to find his business Wyn Rigg closing. Falling during a climb in the Lake District, he needs a long recuperation period and offered the chance reopen Wyn Rigg.
Joe Borrow is sent on a management in preparation the re-opening of Wyn Rigg. Journalist Dave Ashton agrees to do article promoting the occasion. Joe successfully completes an indoor climb but his knee fails him on a mountain climb.
Borrow's latest injury puts him back three months. Wyn Rigg has it's grand opening but bookings have been slow. A local youth attempts to burn down the centre, Borrow finds his wife having sex with backer Dave Stanforth in the grounds.
His wife has left him and Joe is conflicted about whether he should quit or confront Stanforth. He punches Stanforth but turns down £15,000 to quit. Stanforth sets plans in motion to get his revenge by staging a fall for Joe.
Kath Borrow takes a message for Stanforth which reveals what he has planned for Joe. The first group of survivalists head for Scotland unaware that Stanforth has planted his thug. Kath and Susan are in a race against time to save Wyn Rigg.
Joe climbs down a building to break into Stanforth's safe and learns he plans to close Wyn Rigg. Kath ends up in hospital in a serious condition and Susan faces the sack. Joe heads to the hills in a attempt to draw Stanforth into the open.
