Legendary Entertainment has acquired Asylum Entertainment, the television production company responsible for “The Kennedys” and “Beyond the Glory,” the company announced on Monday. Asylum CEO Steve Michaels and chief creative officer Jonathan Koch will operate Asylum as an independent company reporting to Legendary TV chief Bruce Rosenblum. “This is an exciting and significant acquisition for Legendary which confirms our commitment to building a global multi-dimensional television business,” Rosenblum said in a statement. “Asylum’s terrific track-record, relationships and current television content gives Legendary a base to expand and quickly diversify our television business. Founded in 2003, Asylum has produced both scripted and unscripted.

Legendary Entertainment has acquired Asylum Entertainment, reports Variety and will apparently continue to run as a separate company. Asylum produced "The Kennedys" as well as Ring of Fire, and unscripted shows like "Beyond the Glory" for Fox Sports, "Ring of Fire," "Addicted" and the documentary series "30 for 30." This deal will allow Asylum to expand into more non-scripted projects. New York - Legendary Entertainment will be acquiring Asylum Entertainment, chairman and CEO Thomas Tull said on Monday. In a rare investor conference appearance at the 41st Annual Global Media and Communications Conference, he announced the acquisition of the TV studio responsible for various unscripted programming like Espn's "30 for 30" and Fox Sports' "Beyond the Glory" as well as Reelz' scripted miniseries The Kennedys. Asylum is also working on a feature documentary entitled Happy Valley, focusing on the sexual abuse scandal that recently rocked Penn State University and its football program. "We will keep the Asylum brand," he said.

NEW YORK -- Fox Sports Net will give Beyond the Glory, its three-year-old Biography-style series, its biggest push yet in the next week as it promotes a two-hour episode on Mike Tyson in which the former heavyweight champion gave producers hours of access to him. The show will also be notable for interviews with Tyson's ex-wife, the actress Robin Givens, who has said little during the past 15 years about her explosive and short marriage to Tyson. Givens, who has recently been cast in the CBS telefilm Hollywood Wives: The New Generation, explains her complex love for Tyson and describes how he used to beat her and cheat on her. In the show, Tyson frankly discusses his brutal nature and dismal upbringing that helped shape not only his fury and tenacity in the ring, but a self-loathing nature in which he says "I hate Mike Tyson. ... I mostly wish the worst for Mike Tyson."...
