Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • Link fights monsters with a sword and other tools of combat, such as a long bow, bombs, fire spells, ice spells, and a small, powerful hammer.
  • Monsters do not bleed and explode into smoke upon being killed.
  • Link can be seen getting hurt by running into enemies, getting hit by rocks, falling into pits, getting hurt by spiked floors and cactus, eye walls shooting laser beams at link, stepping on land mines.
  • If Link attacks and abuses the chicken with his sword enough times, the flock of chickens will swarm all over Link. Also Link can be seen getting stung by a bee.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In the bar of Kakariko village, there are bottles on the counter that appears to wine bottles. Also a man at the counter with a bottle appears to be drinking wine but it's never mentioned. It's unknown how alcohol got past the Nintendo censorship.
  • In later Legend of Zelda versions they would be drinking milk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The Dark World is a dark, creepy, monster-filled dystopia.
  • Monsters include living skeletons, disembodied hands, ghosts haunting cemeteries with lanterns, and sentient mummies.
  • The Skull Woods area is a shadowy, haunted forest with large skulls littering the ground everywhere.
  • The background music to the Dark World's dungeons is a shivering, haunting orchestral approach that fits the dark theme of the complex very well.

Violence & Gore

  • After Link grabs the Master Sword, the Sanctuary is ransacked, Zelda is abducted before Link is able to rescue her, and the Loyal Sage is knocked out unconscious, which he eventually dies. After beating the game, he is presumably resurrected that the game's epilogue of characters and locations show.
  • Link falls over dead upon losing all his life, as does the wizard Agahnim.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Link's Uncle presumably dies when the hero obtains the Fighter's Sword and Fighter's Shield via the underground passage to Hyrule Castle. The uncle later recovers during the ending credits.
