terrible adaptation of Goines book
don_purnell4 April 2004
This movie is bad...really bad! Poorly directed, poorly acted, poorly shot, poorly written and poorly produced. Watch this movie as a lesson in, "how not to!" I recently saw Never Die Alone, another Goines book, and humorously the reviewer notes that dMX'x movie is the first adaptation of a Donald Goines book. Is it because Crime Partners is so embarrassingly bad that no one wants to even acknowledge that it exists?

If these guys had the money to hire relatively major talent (Ice t, Snoop, Charlie Baltimore, Chino Xl, Tyrin Turner and Clifton Powell) couldn't they have afforded a real crew who knows what they're doing? I definitely got the feeling that they had a crappy script supervisor, 1st AD, art dept etc...don't see this movie unless you wanna put your foot through the screen!

Talented cast is wasted in this pointless film

Crime Partners 2000 is based on a book by one of the greatest black amercian authors Donland Goines. But I imagine Goines is rolling over in his grave after this. In the lead role Tyrin Turner destoys any promise he showed almost ten years ago in Meance II Society. In the form of his sidekick we get a no name actor named John "B.J." Bryant who needs some silmfast. Even the always talnted Clifton Powell is wasted and what's up with the wig my brotha had in this movie it's like someone dipped a mop in oil and glued it to his head. As for those who wanna see the movie for the rappers they don't appear until the last fiffteen movies. This is the reason ghetto cinema has a bad name.

Crime Partners

I as I weeped not because I was glad to see a movie made from a book written by my favorite authors, but at the tragedy that took place. This movie was horrible. I was hurt because I paid for it before previewing it first If i can help anyone out there, this is my effort do NOT waste your time or money. I am sure Donald Goines thought this would be a proud moment in his literary career. But, unfortunately, this was turned into a injustice to his literary work. The acting was so bad that I could not stand to watch this movie without closing my eyes praying the next scene would be better. How can you put seasoned actors in a movie where the director must have been a new graduate.

utmost disrespect to us fans of Donny Goines

Wow, this was as bad as it was made out to be... I must agree that Donald Goines would be turning over in his grave because of this garbage. Tyrin Turner really messes up bad here and makes his previous lead performance in Menace II Society look better than it already is(which was godlike). Clifton Powell also from Menace II Society appears the same way Mekhi Phifer did in 8-Mile, with a locks wig on his head and sorry to say he's truly wasted in this film. The film had no help from the writers and filmmakers and took a wicked fall. I love Goines but this is disrespectfully bad, the film at least - the book is good. This is just a terrible film adaptation. since it's highly likely that DMX's film company has all the rights to the Goines' novel, I'm hoping this is remade w/ respect the way 'Never Die Alone' was - if not f*ck it... I'm just glad 'Never Die Alone' was in the right hands same way the upcoming 'Daddy Cool' is in the right hands...
