Documentary in four parts:
1) "Son enfance, ses débuts"
2) "Ses premiers films"
3) "Ses films avec Giulietta Masina"
- "La dolce vita et le néoréalisme"
Documentary in 4 episodes based on long interviews and meetings with Fellini, conducted between 1960-1962 by Dominique Delouche, former assistant to the Italian director.
First released in France on a Carlotta double DVD "Fellini au travail" on 4-11-2009.
Although this film is said to have been directed by André Delvaux, director Dominique Delouche assures that this is not the case. Here's how he sets the record straight in an unpublished letter :
"In 1959, the Belgian TV channel wanted to carry out a very important program on Fellini. They asked him who he suggested as director: he gave my name. I was indeed appointed and hired. We filmed in Rome, with Denise Delvaux, André Delvaux's wife as production manager. Six months later, when I received a copy of the program, André Delvaux was credited as director instead of me. To my protests, Denise answered me only with embarrassed explanations; André did the editing and RTBF wanted the program to have a Belgian national character. Apparently, Denise insisted that André Delvaux and RTBF comply with this "sham".
