In less than three minutes, Stan Brakhage hypnotizes and frightens us with a creative interpretation of the space and constellations, no sound, just images that blink on and off, shifting of shape. "Stellar" consists of many of Brakhage's known characteristics of composition, so if you know and like them you'll probably like this movie, if not, there isn't much you can't do about it. The big surprise comes on the very last frame with a strange picture after the repetitive starry like images. Still want to know what was that black and white image which pops and fades away very quickly. Well, here's just another experimentation. 8/10

Movie lost in space?

Warning: Spoilers
The film's title and the short description here on its IMDb page honestly tells me more than the two minutes I just watched. With the constant flickering, many colors and quick succession of shots, it looks like any other Brakhage film and I cannot really see any space in here. Nothing stands out, nothing is memorable. Brakhage made this film in the later stages of his career. He was divorced and had remarried already and he was 60 the year this came out. There is no real plot in here as with all of Brakhage's work or I simply do not see it. Anyway, I do not recommend watching this one. It's as boring and forgettable as almost all of his other works.
