The late Tom Sizemore was one of the great character actors of the 1990s. His spectacular run during this decade begins with Oliver Stone's "Natural Born Killers," an ultra-violent media satire with frenzied editing and a polarized reputation. The film's leads are Mickey Knox (Woody Harrelson) and his bride Mallory (Juliette Lewis). To quote "Bonnie and Clyde" — "They're young, they're in love, and they kill people."
As the Knoxes carve carnage across America, hot on their trail is Detective Jack Scagnetti. In another movie, a man like Scagnetti would be the hero — but not here. The detective is obsessed with spree killers because his mother was killed by Charles Whitman, "The Texas Tower Sniper." However, Scagnetti is not just out to catch killers, but to emulate them. In one scene, he strangles a young prostitute.

It’s always fun to see older stars we’ve grown up with over the years and still enjoy when they show up in a random cameo or extended role. Katey Sagal is one of those celebrities that people either know or don’t since she was a big star in Married…With Children as Peg Bundy. She’s been in That 70s Show as well and has shown up now and then in other features over the years, and she even started her career as a singer and songwriter. That’s a perfect point to bring up since Sagal’s role in this movie is the

Elijah Wood, best known for his turn as Frodo in Peter Jackson‘s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, has been working as an actor now for nearly 20 years, and his work has grown increasingly eclectic over the past decade. From his performances in shows such as the bizarrely funny “Wilfred”, horror films like “Maniac” and voice work for the charmingly offbeat animated series “Over the Garden Wall,” he’s had no shortage of interesting career turns.

One thing that’s easy to learn from this trailer is that the Ted Bundy story hasn’t been told enough yet, at least from the standpoint of those that are seeking to make money from this troubling tale. That probably does sound a little critical since everyone that’s involved in the entertainment industry from the core to the fringes are all trying to make money and will tell whatever story they need to in order to make that happen. But if a movie or limited series is going to be made from every single angle that there is to be had

"No man is truly innocent." Dark Star Pictures has released the official US trailer for an indie thriller titled Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman, the latest feature film made by murder-obsessed filmmaker Daniel Farrands. Why do we need more Ted Bundy movies?! We've seen enough, too many of them recently (including No Man of God as well). Chad Michael Murray stars in this as Bundy, along with Lin Shaye, Jake Hays, Marietta Melrose, and Holland Roden. The film focuses on the extensive FBI manhunt to find and apprehend "America's most infamous serial killer," around the time he was down in Florida killing more people. Scary stuff, as always. But this doesn't look it has much to offer that we haven't already seen. Directors Amber Sealey and Joe Berlinger got caught up in a feud, ahead of the June 11 Tribeca premiere of Sealey’s Ted Bundy pic No Man of God.
The quarrel began with an email Berlinger sent to Sealey, after noticing interviews in which she discussed the glorification of Bundy in American culture. In these interviews, he felt she was comparing her film favorably to others made about the infamous serial killer—including two of his own—implying that past films had contributed to the idolization of Bundy, whereas hers does not.
“Forgive the unsolicited advice, but after reading some of your interviews about your Bundy movie, I feel compelled to tell you that tearing down my work to promote yours is a slippery slope and intellectually dishonest and deeply offensive,” Berlinger said in the email, which you can read in its entirety below. “My work has gotten wrongfully convicted people...

Netflix has revealed the new series Crime Scene, which tackles the mythology of locations in contemporary crime. The first season focuses on the nefarious Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
Directed by Joe Berlinger, the trailer contains footage of “Hotel Death,” explaining the murders and suicides that have occurred within its walls since the early Thirties. “Is there a room here that somebody hasn’t died in?” the hotel manager asks. “I never got used to that.”

Anyone with a Netflix account already knows that the platform has a monopoly on serial killer-themed entertainment. Two pieces on Ted Bundy, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” and “Conversations With A Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes,” made waves last year. Other shows like the David Fincher-led “Mindhunter” fit the bill for crime dramas that specialize in this kind of fare.

Wrong Man documentary series takes some unexpected turns as it enters season 2.

Joe Berlinger's Starz series Wrong Man continues its tradition of documentary justice. Season 1 led to two overturned murder convictions: for Curtis Flowers, who was tried six times by nearly all-white juries, and Christopher Tapp, exonerated from rape and murder charges after serving 20 years of a 30-year sentence. It also helped Evaristo Salas win a new trial where he will be represented by a pro bono lawyer. Wrong Man season 2 focuses on wronged women.
The long-form documentary journalism series messes with the formula set in the first season in a few ways. The obvious one is that this season focuses on wrongfully accused women. Beginning with "The Case Against Grandma," Vonda Smith, who was convicted of beating 21-year-old Jessie Morrison, the mother of her grandchild, beyond recognition. The less obvious change is the show pulls...

In disappointing news for fans of The Crown, Netflix‘s opulent drama about the life of Queen Elizabeth II, the show has failed to make the streaming giant’s top 10 most-watched series list for 2019 in the UK. You would imagine that if any market would be the core audience it’d be the United Kingdom, so given the massive budget of the show, this is likely to raise some questions over its future direction.

Netflix has unveiled its most popular titles internationally with true-crime doc The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann topping the UK list and Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston comedy Murder Mystery leading in Australia.
In India, Bollywood romantic drama Kabir Singh was the most popular release, while the second season of gritty Indian crime drama, Sacred Games, topped the series list. There are also lists for France and Germany (below).
The streamer hasn’t officially revealed the methodology, but the list is thought to have been based on the number of accounts in each country that have watched at least two minutes of a title during its first 28 days on Netflix this year. For series, only the most popular season is counted and for shows and movies that have been released recently, the rankings are based on 28-day projections derived from the initial sampling.

Director Adam Wingard hit the horror scene running with his feature film debut Home Sick back in 2007 which centered around a maniac with razors, a super human killing machine attacking a group of unsuspecting teens and featured performances from genre favorites including Bill Moseley, Tom Towles and Tiffany Shepis.
In 2009, the filmmaker's next movie Pop Skull introduced audiences to the gritty world of pill-addicted protagonist Daniel who's biggest problem may not have been the drugs he couldn't put down but rather the ghosts that haunted him in his daily life.
In Wingard's latest, the award-winning A Horrible Way to Die, the director has teamed up with writer Simon Barrett (Dead Birds) to give horror fans an intimate and emotional look into the devastation one man's actions can cause when Sarah (Amy Seimetz) discovers her boyfriend Garrick (Aj Bowen) has been leading a double-life as a serial killer and the struggles...

There’s a word for people who are very clever at manipulating other people emotionally while feeling nothing themselves: that word is sociopath. Sociopaths can be very charming, but it’s all a game to them, a way to get in your head and get you to serve their needs in some way. And maybe the romantic comedy about a couple of sociopaths is where the Hollywood expression of the genre has been heading all along, since such films of recent vintage have been populated by unpleasant people doing unpleasant things in the hopes that we will be somehow charmed by them. Perhaps it was only a matter of time before pathological charm was deployed. I can’t think of a better word than sociopath to describe Jake Gyllenhaal’s (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Brothers) pharmaceutical drug rep Jamie Randall. He is effortlessly able to romance females...

This week's DVD and Blu-ray offerings are no longer a cash-sucking onslaught like the last few weeks, which does make it easier for our wallets.
First up, Centurion, Neil Marshall's fun epic, is finally available for us to take home, and we can definitely recommend it with good conscience. Also, series and movies from TV and their dead-tree companions are out, and they are surprisingly decent in this batch. Finally, don't forget the duo release of a couple of Roger Corman flicks!

Rumors abound that actor, director, teacher and legendary special FX wizard Tom Savini will be returning to the foam-latex-and-Karo-syrup fold to handle the gore gags for Friday The 13th: Part 2, the planned Platinum Dunes-backed sequel to last year’s remake. The prospect is delicious—along with his work on George A. Romero’s Dawn Of The Dead, Savini’s groundbreaking gags in Sean S. Cunningham’s original Friday almost singlehandedly sparked the American splatter craze of the 1980s, and the visionary craftsman hasn’t done any real hands-on genre film work since 2002’s middling serial-killer biopic Ted Bundy.

The Forbidden Zone is a master piece of insanity that defies description, but I’ll give it a go. Richard Elfman’s film is the ultimate midnight movie, an raucous energy filled mixture of giant frogs, dice, an always topless princess, people who speak in French accents, cut-out Gilliamesque animation, Expressionism, a midget King played by Herve Villechaize (yes, from TV’s Fantasy Island), the music is by (the) Danny Elfman (Tim Burton’s movies) and the Elfman Bros’s band Oingo Boingo with tracks from Cab Calloway and Josephine Baker, and then of course there’s…The Sixth Dimension!
The film was originally shot in black and white, a kind of tribute to the 1920s/30s cartoons of the Fleischer Brothers (Out of the Inkwell,...

See the trailer below the break.
Per Freestyle and Liddell, the movie “follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Alleged Craigslist Killer Phil Markoff only recently began gambling at the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut but was a frequent guest in March and April, a source with knowledge of the investigation told People. Markoff, 23, "was at Foxwoods numerous times in March," the source said. "He was always buying in with cash because he couldn't get credit at the casino because [as a Boston University medical student] he didn't have a job. He was there several times in April. He had a reservation to stay at Foxwoods Monday night" - the night of his arrest. Authorities say Markoff and his fiancée, Megan McAllister, 25, were on their way...

Who is the real Philip Markoff, the preppy Boston University medical student now also known as the "Craigslist Killer"? Is he a "beautiful man inside and out" as his doting fiancée, Megan McAllister, who was with Markoff at the time of his arrest, claimed Tuesday in an email to People proclaiming his innocence? Or is he a cold-hearted "predator," as Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley called him Monday night after announcing his arrest for the April 14 slaying of aspiring model Julissa Brisman, 26? The answer depends on whom you ask. The only thing clear is that Markoff's arrest shocked those who knew him.
