Doesn't deserve the infamous reputation
Musicianmagic29 January 2024
First, Yes I have subtitles for my copy of the movie and know the entire story although it doesn't make sense until the end when everything is finally explained.

Second, this movie has an infamous reputation for having explicit content with a horse and dog. The American title is "Ruff Sex" with Ruff being what a dog speaks. The alternative title (on my DVD) is "Horse and Woman and Dog" or various versions of that title. Yes, there is a dog and horse. But if you are looking for actual beastiality, you will probably be disappointed. This is a Pink Eiga film which means it has nudity and several sex scenes. But everything is simulated. Many people think because there is mosaics (blurring) over bodies in the sex scenes that it means it is unsimulated. That is not always the case and not here. It does add an air of explicitness that doesn't actually exist. And none of the actresses in this movie are AV actresses.

The film itself is actually two stories that connect later on. I won't give it away as the development of those stories is the entire reason for watching. I will say that it makes little sense until later on which is why I rate it a 6 out of 10. The cast was just okay. Could have used more emotion.

The sex scenes I found to be of minimal interest. Maybe those that think they are unsimulated or showing something it didn't, found them exciting.

I am generally a fan of Hisayasu Satõ's films but I don't consider this one of his better ones. I think it is one to watch just to say you have seen it. Otherwise you might skip this one.

A shocking Pinku.
Weirdling_Wolf7 April 2024
Starring Kanako Kishi and Kazuhiro Sano, Hisayasu Sato's shocking Pinku is atmospherically set on an isolated beach front property. The strikingly sadistic equestrian protagonist's unrepentantly degenerate pecadiloes frequently prove wholly bestial. Gleefully smutty, often outlandish and refreshingly frank, Horse Woman Dog revels in a lurid pick and mix of bracingly illicit exotica! Unlikely to appease those with mainstream tastes, there is sure to be something here to offend/excite fans of furthest flung fleshly fictions! While there are vestiges of genuine tenderness, this is aggressively confrontational material that should certainly spice up an evening's viewing.

Cold and detached bestiality pinku.
HumanoidOfFlesh7 October 2007
At heart,"Horse Woman Dog" is an extremely perverse rural pinku,in which a necrophiliac(Kazuhiro Sano)lives in a secluded house with a female amnesiac and a woman who murdered her sister.Sato centers his attention on the psycho-sexual deterioration of his protagonists. The film is quite unsettling with two graphic bestiality scenes involving a dog and a horse. There is also plenty of perverse sex on display, unfortunately the erotic scenes are heavily censored optically. The lack of subtitles on my DVD-R is the main reason of the absence of details in this review.Still Sato is a very interesting pinku director that tries to disturb the viewer and usually succeeds.8 out of 10.

Stylish Beastiality-Laden Pinker From Hisayasu Sato
EVOL6664 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I still consider myself a relatively "fledgling" pinku fan - but I've seen a pretty good cross-section of these films at this point - ranging from some of the more "common", commercially-available releases, to a few pretty rare titles. One thing I've noticed is that the work of Hisayasu Sato stands out - even amongst some of the more notable pinku films/directors. Not all of his films that I've seen are amongst my favorite of the genre - but he seems to have a "cold" style and a desire to tackle deeper subject-matter than a lot of the more common themes typical to these films. Eschewing most of the usual "bound girl" types of story lines - Sato tends to dig into more "meaty" subjects. HORSE-WOMAN-DOG seems to handle the same kinds of concepts typical to Sato's films, namely - obsession, alienation, perversion, etc...but I will say that since my copy of the film is in original Japanese language with no subs/dubs - I'm sure there's plenty that I've lost due to lack of translation...

A woman and two men (and their horse and dog, naturally...) live together in a secluded area. The woman is a masochist freak and the two men are perverts as well - one who seemingly has a taste for necrophilia. A couple come along who are detained by the clan and the woman of the pair is put through some rough paces, including being raped by the group's dog and later by their horse (YAY!!!!). Eventually the couple dupes the trio and kills them. The man of the pair also dies, leaving only the woman to follow in the footsteps of her previous captors...

Again, my synopsis may be a bit off as I was unable to follow any dialogue - but I believe that I hit on the basic idea. For sleaze fans, the graphic (though irritatingly pixelated) beasty scenes will definitely be the highlight - though I also find Sato's unique direction and style enjoyable as well. Sato seems to have the "detached" and clinical eye of an AV director, while adding complex human issues into the mix. Definitely a unique film within the pinku genre (as most of Sato's films are...) - and if I could have followed the story better I may have rated it higher. As it is, on visuals alone, I found HORSE-WOMAN-DOG to be a strong piece of Japanese pinku exploitation from a truly original master of the genre...8/10
