Once upon a time, thanks to the “Twilight” movies, Taylor Lautner (the kid who can’t seem to keep his shirt on from the Ya trilogy, in case you need a refresher) was The Next Big Thing, and had big-time movie franchises lining up for his services. Then, uh, “Abduction” came out, and people realized the kid just didn’t have Big Time Movie Star conquered yet, and all those great roles seemed to just drift away like a bad nightmare. One of the movies Lautner was attached to star in was “Max Steel”. Fast-forward to three years later, and Lautner is now out of the picture, and Dolphin Entertainment and Mattel are moving forward with a “Max Steel” live-action movie, with Open Road Films handling distribution next year. Marvel disciple Christopher Yost, who recently penned “Thor: The Dark World”, will script “Max Steel”, with Stewart Hendler directing. Hendler previously...

Will Nashville‘s Deacon sing the (baby) blues? Get answers to those questions plus teases from other shows.
Ausiello’s off hosting Parenthood‘s PaleyFest panel, so he wont notice if I do all Q&A this week, right? Of course not. Our secret, folks….
Is there anything you can dish on The Mentalist? –Katrina
Well, that sure sounds like a “red” alert!

I ask Forward Unto Dawn director Stewart Hendler how he prepared to tackle the franchise and what kind of research went into his work. "I knew a lot about it already, but now I know more than any human being should." Hendler, admittedly not a huge video game guy himself, but he's no stranger to long-form web series, having helmed the Bryan Singer-produced H+. Now, he's bringing his experience to bear on the five-part story of the beginnings of the human-Covenant War which occupied much of the Halo series.
Again, he's no stranger to the Halo franchise--Hendler says he got hooked on the series during college thanks to his roommate who picked up the then-current Halo release. "So that franchise has had a special place in my heart for a long time," he tells me, explaining that the story was what got its hooks into him: "And I think...

*full disclosure: an online copy of this novel was provided by Permuted Press.
Author: Gareth Wood.
Rise is a novel from Gareth Wood that was released by Permuted Press January 2nd in a Kindle format. The book is told in a journal style similar to Don Roff's Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection. Brian is the central character and Wood wrote this novel as "if some reasonably intelligent person" (Swedish) was exposed to a zombie apocalypse. Full of action sequences and a vast assortment of characters, Rise is the best zombie fiction novel that this fan has read so far this year.
The novel begins with Brian and on the periphery a disease outbreak looms in Africa. There are then reports of riots globally after about two weeks. Apparently, the disease has a diffuse vector. Soon, Brian is packing up his belongings and his sister, Sarah, for...

“Eagles Arrive as Pigs are Killed.” The headline intrigued novelist T.C. Boyle so much that he kept the article from a local California paper for some seven years, stuck to his refrigerator. It became part of his vast file on the Channel Islands, the wild, ecologically diverse archipelago off the coast of Southern California.
The islands serve as the backdrop for his 13th novel, “When the Killing’s Done.” The plot, which careens from the 1800s to contemporary times,...

Get Him To The Greek - Movie Pass Giveaway
I am hoping this is the movie I need.
It’s almost June and I have yet to see a film that just wants to be funny. We’ve had countless blockbusters, animated films, chick flicks, but where has the comedy been? If MacGruber is any indication I know that a lot of people have stayed away from movies that only purport to be a fun romp. Here’s to wishing that the latest from Nicholas Stoller delivers on the idea that this will be the vehicle that properly channels Russell Brand’s unique comedic aesthetic.
For those living in Arizona I have a stack of passes to see Greek on Tuesday, June 1st at 7:00 p.

Read Part 1 of our interview right here.
[Spoiler Warning - This interview does contain discussion of the film's kills and plot. Be warned!]
There's a lot to like about Stewart Hendler's breezy and bloody Sorority Row. Sharp-eared viewers will notice the Sorority is located at Rosman College--named after writer/director Mark Rosman, who made the original House On Sorority Row. "Of course," smiles Hendler. "It's only right that we pay tribute to the guy who started it all!"
While it delivers the scares, Row is frequently laugh out loud funny and surreal. Case in point: The movie also has the jaw-dropping sight of Star Wars' Princess Leia, acclaimed actress/writer Carrie Fisher, chasing the killer with a double-barrelled shotgun!
Fango: Carrie Fisher is great as the alcoholic House Mother...How the hell did you get her to do it?
Stewart Hendler: "I lucked out, that's how I got Carrie Fisher. She was obviously the easy first choice for us...I mean, come on,...

Summit Entertainment released the final one-sheet for Stewart Hendler's Sorority Row, and though it's kind of floating headsy, it's still pretty damned cool.
Sorority Row tells the story of a group of sorority girls who inadvertently cause the murder of one of their sisters in a prank gone wrong. They agree to keep the matter to themselves and never speak of it again so they can get on with their lives. This proves easier said than done, when after graduation a mysterious killer goes after the five of them and anyone who knows their secret.
Dig on the final one-sheet below, and look for Sorority Row in theatres on September 11th.

A new one-sheet has been released today for Stewart Hendler's blissfully R-rated remake, Sorority Row, that captures all the fire of the film's host of smokin' hot chicks who will hopefully all die in really -- really -- nasty ways. Will it be as brutal as we hope? We'll see when the film hits theatres on September 11th.
In the interim check out the new art below, and click the image to head on over to the flick's official website, which is home to some new stills.

In a promotional effort for the forthcoming "Sorority Row", Summit Entertainment has come up with two unique clips containing sorority confessional takes of two Theta Pi members. One of the clips, which is put out via MySpace, takes the focus on Leah Pipes' Jessica, and the other one posted by IGN highlights on Margo Harshman's Chugs.
Both of the clips feature the girls promoting their sorority to recruit rushees, but they also display that the two girls are completely different. While Jessica is articulate and points out the positive side of joining Theta Pi, Chugs hits the wall with her choices of words and mentions only the wild side of the sorority. Nonetheless, the clips are also filled with snippets of the horror the girls are encountering.

Screenwriter Josh Stolberg has got to be having the best year of his life right now. One of his projects, Sorority Row, is currently is post-production and another script of his, Piranha 3D, is currently being filmed under the helm of Alex Aja in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
The busy scribe recently checked in on his blog to give his readers an update on both of those films.
Stolberg on Sorority Row:
“Sorority Row is Picture Locked!!! Very exciting. I’ve seen several screenings in the past two months and it’s gotten better and better. This last screening was great. I have high hopes for the movie. It’s everything I was hoping it would be. Scary. Funny. Tense. Stylish. Bloody. Sexy. I really think Stewart Hendler did a fantastic job with the directing.
