After Jim Samples, the Cartoon Network executive who oversaw the greenlighting of such successful cartoons as "Samurai Jack," "Ben 10," "Codename: Kids Next Door," and "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy," left, a new regime at the popular animation-focused cable channel changed tactics. When Stuart Snyder took over in mid-2007, he had a brand new mandate for Cartoon Network — no weird stuff.
Speaking with Buzzfeed, "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack" creator Thurop Van Orman recalled Snyder saying, "'We don't want anything weird or anything where any mom would come out of the kitchen and say, 'What are you watching?'"
Now, this is not to say that Snyder failed at that command, or that his definition of the word "weird" is different than this writer's, but his tenure was filled with shows you could call "weird" and would make a mom say "What are you watching?"

(Welcome to My Most Ridiculous Note, a series of interviews in which animators talk about the weirdest and funniest notes they received from studio executives.)
"Kim Possible" was only the second animated series made for Disney Channel (after "The Proud Family"), and it quickly became one of the cable channel's most popular shows. It's easy to see why: It had action, it had comedy, and it had one of the coolest Disney pets ever.
One of the minds behind the show, co-creator Mark McCorkle, has been in the industry long enough to see it go from being dominated by toy commercials to exploding with original (and not-so-original) ideas and genres. He's worked on everything from "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" and Hasbro's "Cops" to "Aladdin and the King of Thieves" and "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command."

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and so, too, is a very special birthday for Disney Junior, the Mouse House’s home for content targeting younger children: It’s turning 10.
Disney Junior first came to be on Feb. 14, 2011, as a programming block on Disney Channel, anchored by the premiere of “Jake and the Neverland Pirates.” A year later, it became its own 24-hour channel, home to such hits as “Pirates,” “Doc McStuffins,” “Sofia the First,” “Elena of Avalor,” “The Lion Guard,” “Muppet Babies,” “T.O.T.S.,” “Puppy Dog Pals” and “Mira, Royal Detective.”
“Disney Junior has always been about embracing emotional, character-driven storytelling featuring age-appropriate lessons for preschoolers, combined with a touch of Disney magic that the whole family can enjoy together. We’re proud of the diverse series and characters that we’ve built over the last 10 years, including the groundbreaking ‘Doc McStuffins,’ introducing Disney’s first Latina princess...

The first of the month is typically when the variety of streaming services on offer bolster their respective libraries with a mixture of original and pre-existing content, freshening things up for subscribers in the process. January 1st also happens to be the first day of 2021, though, so people might be expecting a little more than just a handful of new additions, and HBO Max are stepping up to the plate in a big way.
Of course, Wonder Woman 1984 is set to entice millions to sign up for Warner Bros.’ platform, especially when the entire slate of theatrical releases are also heading to the streaming site on the same day that they hit the big screen. And keen to capitalize on the inevitable influx of new customers, HBO Max is adding a massive amount of film and television titles on January 1st, with the onslaught set to continue over the next 30 days.

What's leaving Netflix in March? Well, the streaming service is expiring a slew of movies and TV shows, with a big chunk of the departing titles belonging to the Cartoon Network -- you'll see those say bye-bye at the end of the month. As for movies, the clock is ticking for favorites "Dumb and Dumber," "Fright Night," Desperado," "Seven," "Pretty in Pink," "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," and "The Muppet Movie," which will all be pulled in the monthly purge.
Here's the complete list of titles that will vanish from your streaming list (pending any sort of meddling time-travelers). And, just so you're not left empty-handed, here's a list of what's new on Netflix in March 2015.
Leaving March 1

Yes, Luke Skywalker turns 60 today! Iconic actor Mark Hamill hasn't done extensive film work since the phenomenon of the original "Star Wars" trilogy, but his career has remained steadily successful.
"Star Wars" fans may be surprised to know that Hamill has voiced such diverse characters as Turtle from "My Friends Tigger & Pooh," Stickybeard from "Codename: Kids Next Door," and several roles in Seth Green's "Robot Chicken."
This fall, we'll see him in a new role on the "Chuck" final season premiere. He'll play Jean-Claude, a wealthy thief who tangles with Zachary Levi's title character. "It was a blast!" executive producer Chris Fedak tells TV Guide. "We couldn't be more excited to have Mark join us. He's the perfect combination of funny and villainous to get us started with Season 5."...

Syfy's series "Eureka" is planning another holiday-themed episode for December, but this one will look a little different than last year's special.
Ok, a lot different: The holiday episode will be animated.
The story for the show has a machine designed to turn Eureka's Main Street into a postcard-perfect winter setting going haywire, turning everyone into cartoon versions of themselves. Other rules of cartoon worlds will also apply, so get ready for talking animals and inanimate objects.
The episode, titled "Do You See What I See," will also feature several guest voices. "The Big Bang Theory" star Jim Parsons will provide the voice of Sheriff Carter's (Colin Ferguson) Jeep; Edward James Olmos ("Battlestar Galactica") will play the leader of a pack of sled dogs; and Chris Parnell ("30 Rock") will reprise his role from last year's holiday special as Dr. Noah Drummer.
