The debate over facts versus opinion raged on CSI: Vegas Season 1 Episode 7 both during the case of the week and the ongoing campaign against the Crime Lab.
A bloody horse trotting up to a casino was a great jumping-off spot.
Right off, we got to learn more about Josh Folsom, who becomes more interesting by the week.
So he wasn't always a forensics nerd. Instead, after working at the racetrack to help pay off his father's gambling debts, he fell in love with horses.
He was well on his way to becoming a large animal veterinarian when his mother got sick, and he had to drop out. That's when he developed his new passion for forensics.
So that's how he became that guy. You know, the one on every forensics show (back when forensics was all the rage) who never leaves the lab because...

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper was reduced to rubbing his eyes in frustrated disbelief Wednesday when the mayor of Las Vegas repeatedly stated that the city should reopen its casinos, despite evidence that doing so could cause a spike in coronavirus infections.
Carolyn Goodman appeared on Anderson Cooper 360 to promote a quick return to business as usual on The Strip. During the segment, she scoffed at Cooper’s concerns that encouraging tourists and others to fill the casinos would result in hundreds of thousands of people “smoking, drinking, touching slot machines, breathing circulated air.

Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi wasn’t one of those Super 8 kid filmmakers.
“I dreamt of becoming a filmmaker in my 30s, it was an arranged marriage,” said the director at Tiff Masterclass this morning with festival co-head Cameron Bailey.
“I was painting throughout my 20s then when I was 28/29, I realized I hadn’t tried filmmaking,” he said.
However it was a sour acting gig on the Australian TV series The Strip that would propel Waititi behind the camera. Ya see, he was playing a stripper “and I thought there’s got to be more for me.” And it was in a green room, wearing a G-string that propelled Waititi to write the live-action short right there and then Two Cars, One Night which followed two boys and a girl meeting in a carpark outside a pub in rural New Zealand. The short went on to be nominated for 2005 Oscar.

[1]photo credit: Dominion Post [2] The Hobbit is set to begin shooting [3] on March 21 at Stone Street Studios in New Zealand, but the entire cast assembled in the country about a month ago. Above is your first image of the collected actors. That's Martin Freeman (foreground right) and thirteen men of varying size who will, through practical and digital trickery, become the company of dwarves that hires Bilbo Baggins (Freeman) to be their burglar, the better to reclaim their ancestral treasure from the dragon Smaug. The photo comes from a press conference (video here [4]) announcing the beginning of production. Director Peter Jackson was unable to attend (and is therefore not pictured) as he is under 'house arrest' (his joke) while he recuperates from recent surgery. You can click the photo to enlarge slightly, and a rundown of the rest of the cast is after the break. Reprising their roles (and not pictured) are Andy Serkis,...

Among the issues that have plagued development of The Hobbit in recent memory: financing troubles [1] due to studio bankruptcy; a major directorial change [2] after years of delays; actors boycotting the production [3]; a thankfully avoided [4] location change from New Zealand; the firey destruction [5] of one of Peter Jackson's workshops; and most recently, a perforated ulcer [6] that cost the director a trip to the hospital and the film its February start date. It's with all this in mind that it gives me great pleasure to announce that finally, at long last, cameras are set to begin rolling on The Hobbit in March. (Rejoice.) Read some quick, hopeful words from director Peter Jackson, along with a full list of the confirmed cast, after the break. Many wondered whether Peter Jackson's recent health troubles would cost the films their planned December 2012/2013 release dates, but fear not. His surgery may have caused "a...

Ok gang, this is it. It's officially official! Actor Ian Mckellen has officially signed on to reprise his role as Gandalf in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit! Now lets all sit back relax and take a deep breath of awesome relief. Sure, we knew that this is what would eventually happen, but now there's no more guessing. He's all set and ready to go.
We just barely reported that Andy Serkis would return to the role Gollum in Peter Jackson's two-part Hobbit film series. Elijah Wood also signed a deal recently to return as Frodo, and Cate Blanchett will play Galadriel once again. There's an offer currently out to Orlando Bloom to return as the elf Legolas, but the deal isn't set in stone yet.

Peter Jackson is slowly gathering Lord of the Rings veterans for The Hobbit. First there were [1] Cate Blanchett and then [2] Elijah Wood. Now we know that Andy Serkis will definitely be back in a mo-cap suit to reprise the role of Gollum. Update: And so will Ian McKellan. More after the break. Deadline [3] reports that a deal is locked for Andy Serkis, and says that sources say Ian McKellen is working on his deal to return, Christopher Lee is in talks to play Saruman once more, and Ian Holm is likely to return as the older version of Bilbo Baggins, who will be played in most of The Hobbit films by Martin Freeman. (Edit: Just after we published this story, THR [4] announced that the deal for Ian McKellen was done, so he's locked.) Mr. Serkis, of course, will once again play Gollum, the man who was twisted into a creature...

It should come as no surprise to any of us that Andy Serkis would return to the role Gollum in Peter Jackson's two-part Hobbit film series. But, he wasn't officially signed on to it until today.
So far we have Serkis, Cate Blanchett and Elijah Wood from the original Lord of the Rings trilogy signed on to The Hobbit. We're still waiting on Ian McKellen, to see if he will officially come back as Gandalf. Just when we thought everything surrounding The Hobbit was all happy flowers and rainbows we get the discouraging bit of news that Ian McKellen is still not signed on to play Gandalf in The Hobbit! McKellen made the reveal in an interview with Broadwayworld.
Here is the Q & A from the interview:
Are you involved in The Hobbit?
I am not under contract, no.
Have you had any meetings?
I'm not going to say any more than that because it might complicate things! So, I would say - at the moment - no, I am not under contract.
Is it Ok for me to then take that as a "Yes" with a "but..."?
Laughs. I'm not saying any more than what I've said! (Laughs.)
Will someone please get this man signed up to play Gandalf already! McKellen has to to be cast in the role! He is the main ingredient...

Martin Freeman is to play Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, it's been officially announced.
In a joint statement issued today by Peter Jackson, Warner Bros, New Line Cinema and MGM, it was confirmed that the 39-year-old British actor will star in the two-part adaptation of Tolkien's classic.
Freeman (right) initially had to decline the role because of filming the BBC's second series of Sherlock, in which he plays Dr Watson, but a way has since been found to fit both into his schedule.
"Despite the various rumours and speculation surrounding this role, there has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us," said Peter Jackson.

Director Peter Jackson has confirmed who will be starring in his big screen, two part adaptation of The Hobbit. After years of speculation regarding Peter Jackson’s long suffering adaptation of The Hobbit, it now seems like things are moving a light speed. It was only last week that the green light was officially announced on the project, and now we have the first cast list to pore over too!

Freeman previously pulled out of the role due to scheduling conflicts with BBC series, Sherlock – a decision he openly admitted was quite painful to make, so thankfully it looks like a solution has been found and Freeman can don the rubber feet after all.
