“I’m much more comfortable being the underdog,” Kevin Feige recently told Empire.
If anyone has lost the right to call themselves an underdog, it’s got to be Feige, right? After all, he’s the head of Marvel Studios, the architect of a film franchise that dominated box offices for over a decade. He’s a key member of Disney’s corporate empire, a byword for a producer who knows how to please fans and executives alike.
Why in the world would he use that word to describe himself? Well, you don’t have to look much further than recent Marvel movie reviews and disappointing box office showings to find the answer. A degree of superhero fatigue has set in, and audiences no longer automatically line up for an increasingly unwieldy number of new Marvel entries.
Sure, some dedicated fans will disagree, but Feige clearly knows and accepts the truth.

CBS sitcom "The Bob Newhart Show" was a staple for American TV audiences of the '70s, thanks in large part to clever writing and Newhart's much-loved performance as psychologist and comedic straight man Bob Hartley. The show ran for six seasons from 1972 to 1978, but it had a surprisingly long pop cultural afterlife. Characters from "The Bob Newhart Show" have popped up in everything from "Murphy Brown" to "St. Elsewhere" to "Alf," though their most famous reappearance came in the jokey "Newhart" finale in 1990. In it, Newhart wakes up in bed next to his wife from the previous series and discovers that this entire sitcom was all an elaborate dream. "The Bob Newhart Show," it turned out, was his real world.

With multiple Godzilla movies and T.V. shows dropping this year, it might be tricky for fans to track them all. Here is a guide that can help! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
On November 3, 2023, Toho Studios released what many consider to be one of the best Godzilla films in recent times — “Godzilla Minus One.” Then, Legendary Pictures came out with their first live-action series featuring the not-so-gentle giant in “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” on November 17, 2023. They had also recently created an animated series based on King Kong called “Skull Island” on June 22, 2023.
With that being said — 2023 was Godzilla’s year, without a doubt! However, there’s a big difference between the Godzilla movies from Toho Studios and Legendary Pictures. Simply put, Toho owns Godzilla. However, Legendary Pictures secured the rights to the giant 500-ft lizard and other monsters in the Kaiju universe in 2014, ultimately coming up with a ‘Hollywood’ version known as the MonsterVerse.

While once the industry norm, since the 2010s, Hollywood has notably shifted away from mid-budget productions, at least on the mainstream level, making big-budget productions their priority. And the root cause for it can be tied to the superhero industry, especially the MCU, which had a stranglehold at the box office with nearly all of its productions in the last decade.
However, the genre that suffered the utmost consequences following the rise of superhero productions was comedies, which led Zooey Deschanel to believe her career was dead as a result.

To surprise of basically no one, Robert Downey Jr. has just won his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor as Lewis Strauss in "Oppenheimer." The movie was one of the biggest hits of 2023, both critically and financially, and Downey was a huge part of it. He brought the scheming, insecure Strauss to life on the big screen, and helped take a storyline that could've felt like a bunch of complicated legal clutter and turn it into an emotional, high-stakes battle of wills.
Downey's win is heartwarming for a whole host of reasons. One is the actor's well-known struggles with addiction in the late '90s and early 2000s, and the other is Downey Jr.'s long history of starring in exciting, varied, interesting films. From "Tropic Thunder" to "Zodiac" to his many appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this man has definitely put in the work to reach this career milestone.

Mickey Gilbert, the fearless stunt performer who jumped off a cliff for Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and doubled for Gene Wilder in films including Blazing Saddles, Silver Streak and The Frisco Kid, has died. He was 87.

This article contains spoilers for "True Detective: Night Country."
"True Detective: Night Country" is a fantastic detective show, bringing a compelling mystery to a great location filled with interesting characters and then adding a healthy dose of body horror to boot.
Issa López not only crafts a good mystery with the horrific death of a group of scientists working in a remote Alaskan outpost, but the season also keeps audiences on the edge by constantly toying with the line between reality and the supernatural. Were the scientists killed by an eldritch monster? By an ancient parasite like in "Fortitude?" Was it a conspiracy by the mine workers?

Will Ferrell has some pretty cool friends. That shouldn’t come as any kind of surprise to his fans. As comedian Will Ferrell walked across the magnificent stage of The Kennedy Center to accept the greatest honor an America funny person can receive, The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, something happened that made us all remember why he is getting this prestigious honor. The award instantly slipped from Will’s hilarious fingers, shattering this legendary humorist’s bust all over the floor. An obvious gag, that was so damn fitting to what Will represents in the history of the art of doing silly stuff. Without breaking character for a second, Will hilariously tries to pick up the pieces as the world just sat back and laughed… but not laughing at him, we were laughing with him. The appeal of Will Ferrell comes from his innocent “I don’t give a f*ck” attitude that elevates simple stupid jokes to performance art. As Mr. Ferrell once said, “What I...

Following its Dec. 19 premiere, Disney’s “Percy Jackson & the Olympians” series officially cracked Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming chart during the Dec. 18-24 viewing window, landing at No. 4 on the Originals list with 572 million minutes viewed.
Disney released only the first two 40-minute episodes of the new series during this interval, meaning “Percy Jackson & the Olympians” had just 80 available minutes for viewing in comparison to “Reacher” (520), “The Crown “(3,424), and “My Life with the Walter Boys” (446). Nielsen counts minutes viewed across all episodes of a series in its Top 10 ranker.
Also making its debut on the Originals chart is Peacock’s “Dr. Death.” The series opened at No. 8 on the list with 302 million minutes viewed across all 16 episodes. The streaming gods have smiled on Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
The Disney+ series based on author Rick Riordan’s best-selling books opened to a good-sized audience in the week before Christmas. The first two episodes, which debuted the evening of Dec. 19, drew about 572 million minutes of watch time, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings. With a combined run time of 80 minutes, that works out to about 7.15 million complete runs (or “views” as currently defined by much of the industry) of the two episodes in the United States.
Disney had earlier said that the first episode had earned 13.3 million views worldwide — equivalent to a little more than 505 million minutes — over its first six days. The Nielsen figures for the premiere put Percy Jackson ahead of Disney+’s last two Marvel premieres, Secret Invasion (461 million minutes) and season two of Loki (446 million), in total viewing time.
Prime Video’s Reacher moved up to the overall No.

Reacher began its second season with big viewing-time numbers, cementing its status as one of the most popular shows on Amazon’s Prime Video.
The series based on Lee Child’s novels had 1.69 billion minutes of watch time for the week of Dec. 11-17; season two’s first three episodes debuted Dec. 15 (viewing time for the week also includes the eight episodes of season one). That’s within 10 percent of Reacher’s total for its series premiere week (1.84 billion minutes) in February 2022, when Prime Video released the entire season at once. Season two is on a weekly release pattern after the opening three-episode salvo.
The 1.69 billion minutes for Reacher put the series in second place overall in Nielsen’s streaming rankings for the week. Netflix’s movie Leave the World Behind repeated as the overall No. 1 title, edging up to 1.95 billion minutes of viewing from 1.92 billion the previous week.

Three weeks after premiering on Netflix, Young Sheldon has ascended to the most watched show on streaming platforms in the United States. A platform switch to Netflix also sent The Super Mario Bros. Movie to its biggest streaming week to date.
The two titles, which rank second and third on Nielsen’s streaming chart for the week of Dec. 4-10, are the latest examples of Netflix’s multiplying power. Young Sheldon had 1.63 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix and Max for the week, after recording 1.85 billion minutes a week earlier and 963 million for its first week on both platforms. The Big Bang Theory prequel had never charted before the past three weeks (it was previously exclusive to Max) and has easily surpassed its parent show in viewing time all three weeks. The Big Bang Theory had 592 million minutes of watch time on Max for Dec. 4-10.

The term "nepo baby" tends to carry a negative connotation, but it doesn't have to. Take the Deschanel sisters, Emily and Zooey. Their mother, Mary Jo Deschanel (née Weir), began acting in the 1960s and has dozens of film and TV credits to her name, from "2010: The Year We Make Contact" to "Twin Peaks." Their father, Caleb Deschanel, is likewise a decorated director and cinematographer whose career spans 50 years, having collaborated with filmmakers like Philip Kaufman, Carroll Ballard, William Friedkin, Richard Donner, Roland Emmerich, and Christopher McQuarrie.
In the face of that, "nepo babies" Emily and Zooey Deschanel have emerged as artists fully worthy of admiration on their own merits. On top of forming one-half of the successful indie pop group She & Him, Zooey Deschanel spring-boarded from her early breakout roles in the hits "Almost Famous" and "Elf" into an ongoing career as a movie star, in addition to...

When Bender (John Dimaggio) belches on "Futurama," it's typically accompanied by a plume of flame. The more Bender drinks, the larger the plume. A massive beer keg, which Bender downed in one long slug, produced a sizable torch. Another burp once burned off the hair of his co-worker Amy (Lauren Tom).
Some of the burps on "Futurama" are provided by actors who actually bother to belch into the microphone. Often it's Dimaggio, and he once admitted on a commentary track that one must burp-speak the letter "I" to get the proper eructation. On the commentary track for the episode "Crimes of the Hot," the "Futurama" showrunners joked that the (unnamed) actress who provided the episode's many burps -- hundreds of robots belch at the same time -- tragically died the day after recording.
But there is one belching maestro on the "Futurama" cast, and you've likely heard his burps before.

North American Box Office Update Of Aquaman 2 & Wonka(Photo Credit –IMDb)
2023 was expected to end on a high note, but Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, aka Aquaman 2, has failed to create ripples at the North American box office. The film has slowed down after the underwhelming performance during the extended Christmas weekend. On the other hand, Wonka is managing a steady pace at ticket windows. Keep reading to know more!
Aquaman 2 fails to earn big!
Being a sequel to a billion-dollar success, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom had extremely high expectations pinned on it. Unfortunately, right from the beginning, the film was plagued with negativity. The poor reviews and word-of-mouth worsened the matter further, and we saw the biggie earning just dismal numbers in the opening weekend.
Released on 22nd December, Aquaman 2 earned just $27.70 million during the traditional Friday to Sunday opening weekend (including Thursday previews). During the extended weekend,...

Bruce Willis Net Worth (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Bruce Willis is grabbing headlines these days, thanks to the Christmas season and his classic film Die Hard. The debate about whether the action film is a Christmas holiday film has already been discussed a zillion times, but now the superstar has himself ended the debate.
The film was released in the summer of 1988, and despite being an action film, it motivated the audience to enjoy it as a Christmas classic since the film dealt with a plot that unfolds on Christmas Eve.
During a recent conversation, Peter Billingsley, the actor from ‘A Christmas Story,’ tried convincing the cinematographer of Die Hard that the film was a Christmas film. However, years ago, during a debate, Bruce Willis ended the debate by saying it is not a Christmas film but is goddamn a Bruce Willis film!

Social media users recently marveled that last month marked 20 years since three modern Christmas favorites — New Line’s Elf, Universal’s Love Actually and Miramax’s Bad Santa — all hit theaters within weeks of each other. Two decades later, you don’t need to feel like a cotton-headed ninny-muggins if you’re among those wondering why studios don’t release holiday theatrical offerings in the way they once did.
Although most Christmas films don’t tend to follow the path of, say, 1990’s Home Alone, which topped the domestic box office for a whopping 12 straight weeks, they had typically been a staple of the release calendar, with a handful of titles hitting theaters annually, as recently as the late 2010s. That list includes such 2016 theatrical offerings as Almost Christmas, Bad Santa 2, Office Christmas Party and Why Him?, followed by 2017’s Daddy’s Home 2, A Bad Moms Christmas and animated...

Christmas is right around the corner, and it’s that time of the year to pull out your copy of Elf.
The holiday movie ranks up with Mariah Carey‘s always chart-topping “All I Want for Christmas Is You” in terms of modern festive classics, and many of the movie’s stars have enjoyed successful careers and amassed impressive net worths since it was released in 2003.
Of course, two of the movie’s most recognizable stars are Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel who played off each other as a romantic pairing. However, it also features the likes of Peter Dinklage, James Caan and Mary Steenburgen.
Since it’s debut, Elf has likely been viewed annually in homes across the globe. It features iconic lines – “Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color,” for example – and is funny but heartwarming. What’s not to love?!

Squid Game: The Challenge may not be as big as the show that inspired it, but the competition series still got off to a very strong start.

Even with its shortcomings, Marvel's "What If...?" season 1 is the closest the Marvel Cinematic Universe has come to realizing the true potential of the multiverse in terms of storytelling. The hope, then, is that the animated series will dispense with the training wheels entirely with its next batch of episodes and really have fun with the concept, rather than restricting itself to re-imagining events from MCU movies and TV shows past. And so far, it appears season 2 will do just that, with an episode inspired by the Neil Gaiman-penned Elizabethan era comic arc "1602" and another one centered on a brand-new character in the form of the Mohawk hero Kahhori.
Of course, there's still plenty of room for new stories featuring old favorites, including treasured supporting players and frequent comic relief sidekicks Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). Those two specifically will team up in "What If.

The holiday season is in full swing, which means December 24th, 9 pm, Eastern Standard Time is gaining on us as we speak. And with all the wintertime hustle and bustle comes the oft-asked question: Is Rent a Christmas movie or not?
The 2005 film adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s hit Broadway musical starts off on Christmas Eve. It chronicles a year in the life of a group of artistic friends living in New York’s East Village in the late 1980s. The final scene takes place on the following Christmas Eve. As such, it has become one of those movies — like...

Our list is led off by the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” starring James Stewart, a film that was deemed a box office bomb when it was first released. It was the relentless airings on television over the past few decades that made it a favorite for many families. Stewart is also featured in the lesser-known but still wonderful “The Shop Around the Corner.” While that movie is uplifting, other...

Christmas movies don’t often earn Academy Award nominations. “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Miracle on 34th Street” are two of the few holiday pictures that did make their way into the Oscars lineups. That leaves a sackful of Christmas films that should have also Oscar nominations. Here are five of them.
“Love Actually”
Writer-director Richard Curtis was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for “Four Weddings and a Funeral” in 1995 but has never landed a follow-up bid. He could have earned that for his script for “Love Actually,” which interweaves 10 stories about love during London in the lead-up to Christmas. Bill Nighy won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor as a rockstar searching for a comeback. His quirky, hilarious performance could have seen him wind up at the Oscars, too. Instead, he had to wait until earlier this year for his first Oscar nomination (for Best Actor for “Living”).
Perhaps the biggest omission,...

Christmas just isn’t the same without Arnold Schwarzenegger – and we’re not just talking about holiday classic Jingle All the Way. Arnold has gotten into the Christmas spirit in a big way yet again this year, giving out presents at a youth center in Los Angeles, something he has been doing for over three decades. And he has a pretty sincere reason for doing so.
As he wrote on TikTok, “There is a reason I have been handing out presents at the Hollenback Center in Boyle Heights for over 30 years. When I first came to America, my friends at Gold’s Gym were so generous. They brought me in during Christmas time and made me feel so happy and included. I love being able to give back and see the smiles on the kids’ faces when they get their gifts. Merry Christmas to all!” The caption accompanied a video of Arnold handing out Christmas gifts,...

Back in 1996, movie titan Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most notable ventures away from laying waste to camouflaged aliens, gunning down police stations and impaling mad Aussies, was in the comedies Kindergarten Cop and Twins. They were both decent movies, but Twins in particular was an unusual and surprising move for the Austrian Oak. However, it did ultimately turn out to be a fairly good movie, mainly thanks to the unlikely chemistry between Arnie and the great Danny De Vito. Twins was a financial success but the relative critical bashing Arnie’s next movie would get, the admittedly decent Eraser from 1996, meant he was in need of career resurgence.
So, what better way to go about kickstarting his slightly stuttering career than to throw himself head first into very unfamiliar territory: the Christmas movie. On the face of it, it probably seemed like a good idea; after all, both Twins and Kindergarten Cop...
