The cast for the Billy Bob Thornton-led Landman from Taylor Sheridan on Paramount+ just added another heavy hitter to the cast.
Jon Hamm, who has been having a TV reawakening with roles on The Morning Show and Fargo and voice work on Grimsburg, has just joined the series in a recurring guest-starring role.
If you're a fan of Sheridan's productions, you know that might mean Hamm is on screen a lot or very little. Only time will tell.
Hamm's nuanced portrayal of adman Dan Draper on Mad Men put him at the top of everyone's list to work with, and he's reaping the rewards with roles that challenge his skills without pigeonholing the actor's talent.
When his name is added to a show, people pay attention, and his addition is an asset for an already stellar cast on Landman.

Taylor Sheridan’s next drama, about big oil rigs in Texas, is now filming. It’s called Landman, and Billy Bob Thornton’s going to star.
Whether he’s writing, directing, acting, producing or most of those at once, Taylor Sheridan is an indescribably busy person at the moment. Not only is he in the process of completing the fifth and final season of Yellowstone, but work is also getting underway on another gritty-sounding none-more-American TV show. Called Landman, it’ll be set in present-day West Texas, and is all about the oil business – so a bit like a less kitsch Dallas, perhaps.
With filming now underway on location in The Lone Star State, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Billy Bob Thornton has taken on a starring role in the drama. Along with his appointment comes an official description, which reads as follows:

Four years after tackling the Oscar-winning World War I drama “1917,” producer Jayne-Ann Tenggren is mounting the World War II epic “Enemy of My Enemy.”
Powder Hound Pictures and the Polish Film Institute are teaming up to finance and co-produce the film, which centers on one of the world’s great unsung heroes, Captain Witold Pilecki. During the Holocaust, the Polish cavalry officer volunteered to be arrested and taken to Auschwitz, where he formed a resistance group and leaked information revealing conditions inside the camp to the Allies. Following his escape from Auschwitz in April 1943, Pilecki continued to fight for a free and independent Poland in the wake of Stalin’s communist takeover of the country.
Matt King (“Boomtown”) wrote the screenplay based on the critically acclaimed book “Ochotnik” (“The Volunteer”) by Italian historian Marco Patricelli. Production will take place in Poland and Italy. Elizabeth Stillwell (“Lizzie”) is producing alongside Tenggren.

Miracle Workers Season season 4 is set to be a post-apocalyptic laugh riot. The story of the series is partly based on the work of writer Simon Rich and satirically reinterprets historical eras in its three-season run so far, and that is why we are hoping for the same genre for the season 4th of the series as well!!!

Exclusive: Texas Monthly, the magazine that has been chronicling life in the Lone Star State since 1973, has continued its expansion into film and TV by setting its first-ever feature documentary, to be made in partnership with Peabody and Critics’ Choice Award-winning filmmaker Deborah Esquenazi (Southwest of Salem: The Story of the San Antonio Four).
The currently untitled film centers on James Reyos, a gay Apache man who for 40 years has sought to clear his name of the brutal murder of a Catholic priest in oil-rich West Texas. Embedding with the Innocence Project of Texas that has taken up Reyos’ case, Esquenazi with her doc sheds new light on a story that has eluded detectives, crime researchers and amateur sleuths for four decades, exposing a web of media lore and homophobia, as well as whispers of a possible serial killing team targeting clergy in the 1980s. Jim Mahoney was one of Hollywood’s go-to guys. He spent 60+ years in public relations, guiding the images of Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Steve McQueen, Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster, Christie Brinkley, Peggy Lee, and hundreds more.
He was on the front lines when Frank Sinatra Jr. was kidnapped, and was at the party at Peter Lawford’s house the night Marilyn Monroe died. He was also there with the Rat Pack in Las Vegas.
Now age 95, Mahoney has captured all of that in a memoir, Get Mahoney!: A Hollywood Insider’s Memoir. “Get Mahoney!” was the phrase often used when stars and their handlers knew trouble was brewing and needed to keep their names out of the press. Mahoney was good at his job, and frequently referred to himself as a better “suppress” agent than press agent.

In news that probably surprises no one, a show starring two of the biggest-name stars in Hollywood that was created by one of television's most prolific producers has just been renewed. Yep, "1923" will be back for a second season according to The Hollywood Reporter, bringing Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren back for more ranch-set drama.
The news here is a no-brainer given both the draw of Mirren and Ford (the latter of which had never had a main role on TV before this) as well as series creator Taylor Sheridan's pull in the industry. At this point, Sheridan has a catalog of five Paramount shows recently or currently on air and several more in the works. The flagship series "Yellowstone," now in its fifth season, spun off into both "1883" and "1923."

There is a lot more “Yellowstone” on the horizon.
The fifth season of the Paramount Network flagship series will be comprised of 14 episodes, which will air in two installments, the first beginning this summer, per the WSJ. Additionally, “1932,” the second “Yellowstone” spin-off series after “1883,” is coming much sooner than you think.
According to the report, the two halves of “Yellowstone” are meant to introduce the spin-off series and new series from creator Taylor Sheridan, who has a massive deal with Paramount. His purview also includes “Mayor of Kingstown,” the Jeremy Renner-led crime drama that was recently renewed for a second season, and a host of shows announced earlier this week.
For example, the chunk of “Yellowstone” meant to debut this summer will also serve as a launching pad for “Tulsa King” (originally titled “Kansas City”), a new Sheridan series that, like “Mayor of Kingstown,” takes place outside of the “Yellowstone” universe.

Paramount+ announced during the ViacomCBS investor meeting on Tuesday that Taylor Sheridan’s smash hit “1883,” the prequel to his western series “Yellowstone,” has been renewed for a second season. And the Dutton family saga is getting another spinoff, “1932,” which will be set during the tumultuous era of westward expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression.
In other Sheridan news, Billy Bob Thornton will lead the writer/producer’s new series “Land Man,” as a crisis manager for an oil company. “Land Man” is based on the Boomtown podcast and will begin production in 2023.
And Zoe Saldaña will star in Sheridan’s CIA drama “Lioness,” which she’ll executive produce with Nicole Kidman.
“The incredible storytelling and stellar performances behind ‘1883’ have fueled phenomenal new records for Paramount+,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer at ViacomCBS Streaming. “Promoting the series through linear sampling on the Paramount Network during their latest record-breaking...

Exclusive: Rosario Dawson and Lana Parrilla are boarding the upcoming SXSW Linda Goldstein Knowlton directed documentary Split At The Root, as EPs.
The pic is schedule to play in the Austin, TX festival’s Documentary Spotlight section.
Split at the Root follows the emotional journey of mothers separated from their children at the U.S. border and the grassroots initiative that, against all odds, reunites those families. When a Guatemalan mother seeking asylum was separated from her kids under the Zero Tolerance Policy, a Facebook post by a mom in Queens coalesced into a movement as thousands of like-minded women across the U.S. refused to stand by quietly. Immigrant Families Together was born – a rapid response group committed to doing what the government couldn’t – or wouldn’t do: reunite parents with their children separated by the Zero Tolerance Policy.

The DGA’s current film and TV pact doesn’t expire until June 30, 2023, but the guild is already gearing up for those contract negotiations. Director Jon Avnet has been named chair of the negotiating committee, and directors Karen Gaviola and Todd Holland have been named co-chairs. The DGA National Board unanimously approved their appointments. DGA national executive director Russell Hollander will be the guild’s chief negotiator.
“We don’t yet know when our next negotiations will take place, but we are looking ahead as we carefully examine the creative and economic issues faced by our members working in film and television,” said Lesli Linka Glatter, the DGA’s newly elected president. “As part of that process, we have asked three of our prominent feature and television directors – Jon Avnet, Karen Gaviola and Todd Holland – to head our negotiations, and they have graciously agreed. Sometimes, impossible things just happen, and we call them miracles. Though that line may have been spoken by Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith in the Season 5 episode “The Pandorica Opens,” it has perhaps special relevance for Doctor Who fans right now, who are living through a moment most of us had given up hope on ever seeing.
No, it’s not the fact that the Doctor is a woman now. It’s that Christopher Eccleston, the man who both reinvented Doctor Who and walked away from it, who defined the Doctor for a generation and then left him behind, has returned to the role in a series of new audio adventures for Big Finish.
It’s hard to overstate what a big deal this is, both for fans and the franchise as a whole. Eccleston’s time on the Tardis is often unfortunately overshadowed by the furor surrounding the way he left it,...
