The cast for the Billy Bob Thornton-led Landman from Taylor Sheridan on Paramount+ just added another heavy hitter to the cast.
Jon Hamm, who has been having a TV reawakening with roles on The Morning Show and Fargo and voice work on Grimsburg, has just joined the series in a recurring guest-starring role.
If you're a fan of Sheridan's productions, you know that might mean Hamm is on screen a lot or very little. Only time will tell.
Hamm's nuanced portrayal of adman Dan Draper on Mad Men put him at the top of everyone's list to work with, and he's reaping the rewards with roles that challenge his skills without pigeonholing the actor's talent.
When his name is added to a show, people pay attention, and his addition is an asset for an already stellar cast on Landman.

Taylor Sheridan’s next drama, about big oil rigs in Texas, is now filming. It’s called Landman, and Billy Bob Thornton’s going to star.
Whether he’s writing, directing, acting, producing or most of those at once, Taylor Sheridan is an indescribably busy person at the moment. Not only is he in the process of completing the fifth and final season of Yellowstone, but work is also getting underway on another gritty-sounding none-more-American TV show. Called Landman, it’ll be set in present-day West Texas, and is all about the oil business – so a bit like a less kitsch Dallas, perhaps.
With filming now underway on location in The Lone Star State, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Billy Bob Thornton has taken on a starring role in the drama. Along with his appointment comes an official description, which reads as follows:

Taylor Sheridan continues to expand his shared universe, the Sheridanverse, with upcoming shows like Land Man and 6666, which continue the timeline of Yellowstone. 1923 has been confirmed for a second season, following the success of its first season, and will continue the story of the Duttons and other intriguing characters. Mayor of Kingstown, a separate show from Yellowstone, has gained a devoted following and fans eagerly anticipate news on a potential third season, despite Jeremy Renner's recent injuries.
There are several Taylor Sheridan upcoming shows, including more set in the Sheridanverse — the director's shared universe which began with neo-western hit Yellowstone (2018 - ). Following the massive success of Yellowstone, Paramount created multiple spin-offs, starting with 1883 (the 2021 miniseries), and 1923 (the 2022 miniseries). At the end of 2022, in addition to expanding the story of Yellowstone's Duttons in their second prequel spinoff, 1923, Sheridan further extended his reach into the comedic drama genre with the unconnected Tulsa King.

Four years after tackling the Oscar-winning World War I drama “1917,” producer Jayne-Ann Tenggren is mounting the World War II epic “Enemy of My Enemy.”
Powder Hound Pictures and the Polish Film Institute are teaming up to finance and co-produce the film, which centers on one of the world’s great unsung heroes, Captain Witold Pilecki. During the Holocaust, the Polish cavalry officer volunteered to be arrested and taken to Auschwitz, where he formed a resistance group and leaked information revealing conditions inside the camp to the Allies. Following his escape from Auschwitz in April 1943, Pilecki continued to fight for a free and independent Poland in the wake of Stalin’s communist takeover of the country.
Matt King (“Boomtown”) wrote the screenplay based on the critically acclaimed book “Ochotnik” (“The Volunteer”) by Italian historian Marco Patricelli. Production will take place in Poland and Italy. Elizabeth Stillwell (“Lizzie”) is producing alongside Tenggren.

Exclusive: Texas Monthly, the magazine that has been chronicling life in the Lone Star State since 1973, has continued its expansion into film and TV by setting its first-ever feature documentary, to be made in partnership with Peabody and Critics’ Choice Award-winning filmmaker Deborah Esquenazi (Southwest of Salem: The Story of the San Antonio Four).
The currently untitled film centers on James Reyos, a gay Apache man who for 40 years has sought to clear his name of the brutal murder of a Catholic priest in oil-rich West Texas. Embedding with the Innocence Project of Texas that has taken up Reyos’ case, Esquenazi with her doc sheds new light on a story that has eluded detectives, crime researchers and amateur sleuths for four decades, exposing a web of media lore and homophobia, as well as whispers of a possible serial killing team targeting clergy in the 1980s. Rose Tyler and Mickey Smith had a complex relationship throughout their time on Doctor Who, and although each character had their own individual strengths and weaknesses, the show was really able to shine when they came together. But their relationship didn’t get off to the easiest starts, nor did they have the smoothest time together - Rose’s adventures with the Doctor caused several conflicts with Mickey that allowed the show to examine some important themes of loyalty and abandonment. They were some of the show’s greatest characters in its early days, and their relationship opened many pathways for the story.
It’s not easy to effectively sum up Rose Tyler as a character, as she went through many different stages of expression and acceptance throughout her time with the Doctor, but that’s exactly what made her such an interesting character to watch. She was obsessed with...

Jim Mahoney was one of Hollywood’s go-to guys. He spent 60+ years in public relations, guiding the images of Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Steve McQueen, Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster, Christie Brinkley, Peggy Lee, and hundreds more.
He was on the front lines when Frank Sinatra Jr. was kidnapped, and was at the party at Peter Lawford’s house the night Marilyn Monroe died. He was also there with the Rat Pack in Las Vegas.
Now age 95, Mahoney has captured all of that in a memoir, Get Mahoney!: A Hollywood Insider’s Memoir. “Get Mahoney!” was the phrase often used when stars and their handlers knew trouble was brewing and needed to keep their names out of the press. In news that probably surprises no one, a show starring two of the biggest-name stars in Hollywood that was created by one of television's most prolific producers has just been renewed. Yep, "1923" will be back for a second season according to The Hollywood Reporter, bringing Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren back for more ranch-set drama.
The news here is a no-brainer given both the draw of Mirren and Ford (the latter of which had never had a main role on TV before this) as well as series creator Taylor Sheridan's pull in the industry. At this point, Sheridan has a catalog of five Paramount shows recently or currently on air and several more in the works. The flagship series "Yellowstone," now in its fifth season, spun off into both "1883" and "1923."

In December, the total demand for series he has created or produced was on par with some of the most high profile creators who have been in the game for even longer, according to Parrot Analytics‘ data, which takes into account consumer research, streaming, downloads and social media, among other engagement.
Sheridan’s expanding “Sheridan-Verse” is proving to be an increasingly important part of Paramount+’s slate of content. This December may have seen a new peak in Sheridan-mania with the latest season of the flagship “Yellowstone” series in full swing and two new shows having recently premiered. There is a lot more “Yellowstone” on the horizon.
The fifth season of the Paramount Network flagship series will be comprised of 14 episodes, which will air in two installments, the first beginning this summer, per the WSJ. Additionally, “1932,” the second “Yellowstone” spin-off series after “1883,” is coming much sooner than you think.
According to the report, the two halves of “Yellowstone” are meant to introduce the spin-off series and new series from creator Taylor Sheridan, who has a massive deal with Paramount. His purview also includes “Mayor of Kingstown,” the Jeremy Renner-led crime drama that was recently renewed for a second season, and a host of shows announced earlier this week.
For example, the chunk of “Yellowstone” meant to debut this summer will also serve as a launching pad for “Tulsa King” (originally titled “Kansas City”), a new Sheridan series that, like “Mayor of Kingstown,” takes place outside of the “Yellowstone” universe.

Billy Bob Thornton and Taylor Sheridan are teaming up again. The Academy Award winner will star in Sheridan’s upcoming drama, Land Man, on Paramount+, as a crisis manager for an oil company. This comes after Thornton appeared in the Academy Award nominated-executive producer’s 1883, the Yellowstone prequel also on the streaming service. Production will begin in 2023. The series is based on the notable 11-part podcast, Boomtown. It is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas and is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics. “We are in the privileged position to be able to work with people that we truly admire,” said David C. Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, in a statement. “With Land Man,...
