Fox TV’s The Masked Singer is a unique reality singing show where celebs compete against one another, but there is a fun twist. While performing, they wear fancy costumes and face masks to conceal their identities. The singing reality series is back with its Season 11, and the first episode premiered earlier this month. There had been a change in the judges’ panel this year as fan favorite Nicole Scherzinger did not return alongside Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, and Robin Thicke. Rita Ora has taken her place.
The fans were initially upset and worried about Nicole’s exit from the show. But it was later reported that Nicole was busy with the revival of Andrew Llyod Webber’s Sunset Boulevard in London’s West End. It began in September, which coincided with the reality show’s filming. As a result,...

Fox is developing a one-hour drama titled “Borrowed Time,” Variety has learned exclusively.
The series hails from writers and executive producers David Slack, Josh Campbell, and Matt Stuecken. McG is also an executive producer along with Mary Viola and Corey Marsh via Wonderland Sound and Vision. Wonderland is currently under a non-exclusive broadcast direct development deal with Fox.
The official logline for “Borrowed Time” states: “Neuroscientist Mimi Peters is working to extract memories from the human brain. Her technology is too dangerous to test on the living. But after she proves she can peer into the minds of the dead, FBI Agent Casey Harden comes calling. Together, they form an uneasy partnership using her technology to solve his cases.”
The project marks a return to Fox for Slack, who previously co-created the Fox procedural “Apb.” Slack’s other credits include “Law & Order,” “Magnum P.I.,” and “Person of Interest.” Campbell and...

Both John Cena and Dwayne Johnson have successfully transitioned from WWE to acting careers. Before Cena made the jump, though, he had problems with Johnson’s career pivot. Cena frequently accused Johnson of turning his back on the WWE in favor of a film career. In recent years, Cena has apologized to Johnson for his comments, realizing they were both disrespectful and hypocritical.
John Cena criticized Dwayne Johnson for becoming an actor
In the early 2010s, Cena asserted his belief that Johnson’s pivot to acting was a slight to the WWE. Though Johnson eventually announced his return to the WWE, Cena believed he prioritized his acting career.
“Finally The Rock came back and everyone was was getting with it ’till he said I was talking trash but he would never be specific,” Cena said in a rap, per CBS News. “It’s because I wasn’t talking trash, Rock,...

Welcome to this review of the 2023 edition of WWE”s Fastlane pay-per-view, well I say pay-per-view but this is technically a Ple (Premium Live Event) because… I have no idea what the difference is other than some countries get to see Ple’s without paying more than a subscription to a streaming service. Anyway, rant over, here’s the review…

John Cena returned to the WWE amid the SAG-AFTRA strike but as talks have resumed between the actors’ guild and the AMPTP, Cena’s time in the wrestling ring might be running out.
During a press conference after WWE Fastlane, the star talked about how detrimental it would be to the people around him if he were to get injured wrestling while continuing his work as an actor.
“I’ve made it clear that you can’t do both because of the liability insurance. If I were to try and juggle both, that’s very selfish because I would put a whole lot of people in the movie business out of work if something were to happen to me,” Cena said.
With the actors on strike, Cena has made appearances at WWE but says that once a deal is settled he would have to leave the ring once again.

Match #1: Charlotte Flair & Asuka def. Iyo Sky & Bayley The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
One night before WWE Fastlane, Charlotte Flair gained the pinfall victory during her and Asuka’s match against WWE Women’s Champion Iyo Sky and Bayley. At WWE Fastlane, Sky is set to defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Flair and Asuka in a Triple Threat Match and looks to be on shaky ground, as she and her partner Bayley came up short. The four Superstars balled out, with Sky taking out everyone in a tremendous Tower of Doom that left everyone down. Even though Flair had accidentally booted Asuka in the face, she still came away with the win after a Natural Selection on Sky.

Give us a “Hell yeah!” Tomorrow is 3:16, which makes this week “Stone Cold Week” in the eyes of the WWE Universe. TheWrap can exclusively reveal the trailer for the event, which includes “Birth of the Stunner” and a “Broken Skull Sessions” episode featuring Randy Orton.
Crack open a cold one and watch the trailer above.
“Stone Cold Week” will be a transitional period for the professional wrestling company’s programming, in that it will begin Tuesday on WWE Network and transition to Peacock on Thursday. That’s because WWE Network is being folded into the NBCUniversal streaming service on Thursday, March 18. However, WWE Network will still be available as a standalone service until April 4, so subscribers not following WWE’s sunsetting SVOD platform can still watch the entirety of “Stone Cold Week” — and Sunday’s “Fastlane” pay-per-view.

Pro wrestling fans in the U.S. will soon be grappling with a significant transition in their streaming habits, with the WWE Network heading to Peacock.
Starting March 18, as the companies announced in January, the NBCUniversal service will begin rolling out WWE Network content. Stand-alone WWE streaming service will go dark in the U.S. on April 4, they revealed today, though it will continue to operate in other global territories.
The timing means that viewers will be able to access Fastlane, a pay-per-view event slated for this month, through the wrestling circuit’s app as well as Peacock. By the time WrestleMania 37 comes up on April 10 and 11, though, the only option will be Peacock, which costs $5 a month with ads or $10 without. (A select number of pay-tv and broadband customers get Peacock bundled into their subscriptions at no extra cost.)

WWE is shutting down WWE Network as a standalone service in the U.S. next month, when it will move exclusively to NBCUniversal’s Peacock.
The cutover date is April 4 — a week ahead of WrestleMania 37 — and prior to that, WWE Network customers will need to have signed up for a Peacock subscription in order to keep getting all the ring action.
As previously announced, under the companies’ multiyear deal, all WWE Network content including all pay-per-view events will be available on Peacock Premium with ads, regularly priced at $4.99 per month (half the $9.99 monthly cost of WWE Network).
In a limited-time promo, Peacock starting Monday (March 8) is offering new customers four months of Peacock Premium with ads for $9.99, for a 50% discount. More info on the special offer, which expires April 9, is available at this link.

NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Sell says WWE programming is a “perfect property” for his company. It better be considering the Comcast-owned entertainment company is spending a few billion dollars on it.
Earlier this week, Shell’s NBCUniversal and Vince McMahon’s pro-wrestling company came to terms on a deal to fold WWE Network into NBCU’s Peacock streaming service. Those terms? Five years and in the ballpark of $1 billion, two people with knowledge of the agreement told TheWrap. And that’s on top of the billion bucks or so NBCUniversal’s main entertainment cable channel USA Network already pays for “Monday Night Raw” rights.
“WWE is a kind of a perfect property for us,” Shell said Thursday on a conference call tied to Comcast’s fourth-quarter and full-year 2020 earnings.
Why? Let him explain.

WWE stock initially slipped on the Monday morning news that streaming service WWE Network is folding into NBCUniversal’s Peacock.
Within the first 10 minutes of the regular stock-trading day, WWE shares declined about 3%. The U.S. stock markets opened at 9:30 a.m. Et.
While financial terms of the deal were not officially disclosed, two people with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap the span is five years and worth in the ballpark of $1 billion.
Shares in WWE closed the normal trading day Friday at $55.52 per share, an increase of nearly 6% from Thursday. In after-hours trading, it ticked up another 13 cents. The company’s market cap was $4.32 billion.
The stock flirted with $100 per share in Spring 2019. Like so many companies that rely on live-event revenue, the coronavirus pandemic has provided serious financial and operating challenges for the world’s leading professional wrestling organization.
Earlier this month, WWE announced its plans for the next three WrestleManias.

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns returned to in-ring action in fine style Sunday night, reuniting with fellow members of the Shield Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose for a victory over the team of Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Baron Corbin at the “Fastlane” pay-per-view.
The victory came just under five months since Reigns announced to the WWE Universe that he was again battling leukemia after having been in remission for over a decade. He returned to WWE’s airwaves in late February to announce he was again in remission, but his first match back was not until Sunday night. Speaking with Variety, Reigns said it felt good to reunite with Ambrose and Rollins but he was a little apprehensive about getting back into the ring.
“I think a lot of it was nerves,” Reigns said. “Nothing prepares you for the ring like the ring. I’ve had some really good training sessions,...

Welcome to this review of WWE’s 2019 edition of Fastlane, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a night of weird booking to get to, so get your eye-brow stocked, cocked and ready to fire off a shot of confusion, because this review is starting…why didn’t Sissy Spacek use her Carrie powers in Coal Miner’s Daughter?
The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) beat Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev (w/Lana)
My Take: 2.5 out of 5 – This was good for what it was, but the match just felt like a formality. This match had to share its TV time with some footage of The Miz ushering his father to ring-side for his match later in the card. At least they got to do a few nice moves.
The Usos (Jimmy and Jey): [Still Champions] beat The Miz & Shane McMahon – SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match

The roads to WrestleMania for Becky Lynch and Kofi Kingston are strikingly similar, with an injection of McMahon influence ...
Vince McMahon has ripped a page out of the Kevin Sullivan school of booking pro wrestling.
Personally, I was a fan of Sullivan's booking in WCW, especially in the mid-'90s when Nitro first hit the airwaves and the Nwo was running roughshod over the entire show.
Sullivan's style was to book as much heat as possible. Kevin Nash once described it in an interview as a balloon. You needed to book heat to get the balloon to rise, and then once that balloon is full of heat, you get the loudest pop possible when the babyface finally comes back and gets their win in the end.

Welcome to this week’s Smackdown Live review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and I have school in the morning, so let’s get to it. Chop, chop. Is that a cooking reference? Chop, chop? Who cares? Mark Hamill had to campaign to have a chance to talk to C3PO at the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I’m not kidding. Rian Johnson didn’t want those two characters to talk to each other. The robots are what got Luke involved with the Star Wars stuff in the first place. “Hey, 3Po, thanks a lot @$$-hole. My dad, the charcoal grill with legs, chopped my hand off. I almost banged my sister. Also, my nephew is trying to kill me. To think, if you hadn’t come along, all of those things would never have happened.” Okay, let’s see if Becky Lynch gets mauled by Charlotte Flair,...

The WWE did what everyone knew they were going to do on Monday Night Raw this week. Despite teasing it the entire episode, The Shield reunited for the WWE Fastlane PPV. Rollins came to the ring and said that he knows what Roman Reigns wants and he agrees that he deserves to be in the Universal title match. However, Reigns said that was not what he wants. He believes […]

Kingston was pulled from his Fastlane championship match by Vince McMahon on SmackDown ...
WWE chairman Vince McMahon made an appearance on last night's episode of SmackDown Live to announce that Kofi Kingston, who was scheduled to face WWE Champion Daniel Bryan at Fastlane in two weeks for the championship, was being pulled from the match and will be replaced by the returning Kevin Owens.
On the face, this seems like a blow for Kingston, who has been receiving a groundswell of support in recent weeks, stemming from his one-hour performance in a gauntlet match on SmackDown and then his showing at WWE's Elimination Chamber special earlier this month.
But this is likely an indication that Kingston's push is about to get much larger.
First, getting pulled by McMahon in the manner he did gives sympathy to the Kingston character. He had the rug pulled out from under...

There's a running gag in the second episode of Fox's Lethal Weapon series where the cops who work with Lapd detectives Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh can't decide on a joint nickname for them. Are they peaches and cream? Crockett and Tubbs? Starsky and Hutch? (The problem with that one is that both men insist on being Starsky.) The joke within the joke, of course, is that Riggs and Murtaugh themselves are as iconic a pairing as any of these potential nicknames. But the Riggs and Murtaugh in question are the ones played by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in a series of '80s and '90s movies, and not the cuddlier newer versions played by Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans in the Fox series, which debuts Wednesday night at 8. The Gibson/Glover take on the partnership — particularly in the first two Lethal Weapon films — is as beloved and...

In "Aquarius," David Duchovny plays an La cop in 1967 with old-school hair and old-school values. Asked to find a teenage girl who has vanished into the city's hippie underbelly, he reluctantly teams with a shaggy-haired young cop with crazy new ideas about civil liberties and equality. Very quickly, then, the series sets itself up as an ideological clash between the veteran and the rookie, even as they collaborate to find the girl and potentially put a charge on the charismatic guy named Charles Manson who has her under his sway. The generation gap on the show is pretty stock stuff, unfortunately. Far more interesting, if not creatively successful, is the way that "Aquarius" itself is caught between multiple generations of television at once, attempting to function simultaneously as a broadcast network drama, an edgier cable-style show, and something designed to be binged like it was being released by Netflix or Amazon.
