The primary flaw is in the inability of this Backstory to get creator Joss Whedon on camera. Then again, given Whedon's history with some of those who actually were interviewed (including "Buffy" the movie's director, Fran Rubel Kuzui and dyspeptic star Donald Sutherland), perhaps it was completely unworkable. At any rate, if you liked the movie better than the series, or both somewhat equally, this is a good behind-the-scenes look at the film. If you didn't care much for the film, but love the series, expect the film to get undeserved credit for "inspiring" the TV incarnation. This despite Whedon's statement that the reason he wanted to do a "Buffy" TV series was because the movie conveyed his vision so poorly.
