This 21-minute short, DESIGNING BOND - - PETER LAMONT deals with a string of 16 consecutive Eon Production Company James Bond films on which Mr. Lamont worked in various capacities, beginning with Eon's third Bond picture overall, GOLDFINGER (coverage begins at 1:58). Peter says he was a Union card-carrying junior draftsman, charged with drawing up the schematics for this flick's version of Fort Knox. The favorite people of Red Staters all have Union Cards, such as the cast and crew of James Bond movies, the Tomahawk-chopping Atlanta Braves, and NFL football players. Yet their rejection of following their idols as role models and getting Union Cards of their own has killed off the American Middle Class and created the greatest economic disparity between top and bottom since France in the 1790s (when the Revolutionaries chopped off all those heads). Hopefully, some of them will see Mr. Lamont's story and finally comprehend where a Union Card can lead.

Designing Bond: Peter Lamont was a fine tribute to the James Bond production designer

Just watched this extra on the Octopussy Blu-ray disc. It showcases art director/production designer Peter Lamont's works on various James Bond entries from Goldfinger to The World is Not Enough which was his then-most current assignment. Various crew members sing his praises including his first employer, Ken Adam. Watching his various works from one film to another, one is fascinated how certain landmarks were recreated at Pinewood Studios on the 007 stage especially after a fire just before A View to a Kill. Highly recommended for fans of James Bond.
