Wingard, who is known for his films “V/H/S,” “The Guest” and “You’re Next,” previously composed the score to his 2008 short film “Paradox Mary.
Currently streaming on Spotify, the 10-track score features original music from the sequel to the 1999 found-footage horror film “The Blair Witch Project,” and has a very creepy ambient mood. Lakeshore Records released the soundtrack on September 16, concurrent with Lionsgate’s release of the film.
“Blair Witch” follows James and a group of his friends as they go into the demonic woods in search of his missing sister. Early box office reports project that the movie will conjure up about $10 million in its opening weekend, making $4 million on Friday night.

Friday night at Comic-Con, horror fans were surprised to find out that Adam Wingard’s new project is an official sequel to “The Blair Witch Project.” Previously titled “The Woods” to throw people off, “Blair Witch” stars James Allen McCune as the brother of Heather Donahue, original character from the first film, who sets out to find out what happened to his missing sister. The movie was shown for the first time at the convention.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the film’s helmer talked about how they kept this project a secret for so long.
“‘The Woods’ was our working title,” said Wingard. “When we signed on to it, we knew that [the name] was eventually going to be changed. To us, it wasn’t even going to be part of the marketing. But I think Lionsgate made a really smart decision, using that.”

It’s been 17 years since “The Blair Witch Project” changed the horror genre and independent filmmaking forever, and yet the new surprise sequel, “Blair Witch” (formerly known as “The Woods”) is hoping you’ve forgotten — at least a little bit. Helmed by Adam Wingard (“You’re Next,” “The Guest”) and written by his regular collaborator Simon Barrett, “Blair Witch” is shot, constructed and executed just like the original. And the slow-build fright fest will please genre purists — perhaps enough to reinvigorate the potential franchise — even if it feels all too familiar to the rest of us.
Starting in the very (scary) house we left off in — a fact given away in the trailer — Wingard and Barrett introduce us to four fresh faces, one of which holds close ties to a victim from the original. Driven to the woods for answers, the group also aims to make a documentary on their friend’s eerie journey.

It was somewhat startling to me when I lived in Europe several decades ago that the catchy, upbeat tune "Bobby Brown" would be played regularly on radio. Sure, it's got a good beat and you can dance to it, but, given that the song is about a rapist who is emasculated while echoing the American Dream, it seemed a little provocative for mid-afternoon tunes. There's a certain masochistic challenge to being a Frank Zappa fan, to take everything in right from his Freak Out days through to the symphonic complexity of The Yellow Shark. His art shifted from "Louie Louie"-based three chord garage rock to noodling guitar solos to minstrel-like shows to Varèsian orchestral pieces, all somehow maintaining the unique character of the man.
