Slashing Dressed to Kill (2001)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

This nine minute featurette takes a look at the controversy Brian DePalma's DRESSED TO KILL ran into when it came time for it to reach the MPAA. DePalma, actors Nancy Allen, Keith Gordon, Angie Dickinson, producer George Litto and editor Gerald Greenberg are all interviewed to discuss the difference between the original X-rated version of the film and the R-rated version that eventually got into theaters. You can tell that DePalma is quite passionate and upset that his vision had to be cut for what he says the film being too good and too well-made. Another aspect taken by this featurette is the way critics praised the film while others went against it for being too violent. Also, the comparisons to Alfred Hitchcock are also discussed. If you're a fan of the film then you'll certainly want to check this out as it's clear everyone wasn't too happy with what happened to the movie and the ways some treated it.
