Great potential, mediocre delivery

Based on the stories seen in British press the short looks at a range of stories including two men exchanging owl calls, a man with trolley rage, a man hit by a bus, a women who moves furniture on a daily basis and a women frustrated by a forever breaking washing machine.

Sounds interesting doesn't it. How can a film like this NOT be good?! Look how much weirdness and madness is in the papers everyday - it must be easy to cherry pick some weird and wonderful stories from them. However this short falls short (sorry!) of doing that by picking several stories that are almost normal and slightly uninteresting. Those stories that are interesting are also handled badly - not bringing the story to life very well.

It is still interesting, in turns being moving, involving and funny. However it lacks the highs of a good film and just feels average for the most part, like it lacks energy. John Peel's voice helps instil a sort of slanted view feel to it but he can't make some of the stories better.

Overall I was looking forward to this because I felt it had real potential. I was disappointed to see that potential wasted. The only story that stood out as being surreally interesting, hilarious and shocking at the same time was that of the man who was obsessed with Claudia Schiffer and would quiz his parents endlessly on facts about her.
