Silly - totally disposable short that may amuse you
bob the moo26 October 2002
Three ladies struggle to their car with their shopping - moaning and complaining as they go. When they stop for fuel, the Spanish attendant offers them a little something extra that helps revive their flagging spirits.

Shorts can sometimes be artistic and maybe try too hard to be profound and meaningful. Whereas others are jut plain silly - like someone had a spare £1000 sitting around and decided to make a short film. Fuel feels like the latter. The pot makes damn-all sense and it's not meant to. It is amusing to see these women rediscovering their spark when the car wash is offered but it's not THAT funny and it's not that clever.

To be honest I really only got something out of it when I saw the final shot and when you see it you'll understand why. The cast of ladies do well but the most notable thing about them is the presence of ex-Russ Abbot partner Bella Emberg.

Overall this is silly and just about sustains the very short running time. It won't stick in your mind for any length of time but it may make you smile while it's on.

Not enough fuel to keep this one going...
planktonrules5 November 2008
This film begins with three older British ladies out for a spin in their car. However, when they stop for gas, they all get hot and bothered as a group of hunky men put on a sexy car wash that leaves the ladies panting for more.

Sadly, that's really all there is to the film--old housewives moaning and groaning at the sight of hunks working up a lather. In addition, the ladies' reactions are just too extreme and lack any subtlety whatsoever--making the whole thing seem kind of silly (and not in a good way).

Perhaps you'll enjoy it, but considering how inconsequential and short it all was, I doubt if anyone would be that hot and bothered by the film.

An Underestimated Short
ChainsawUK28 February 2003
Short films are a very hit or miss affair. I often sit in a room, feeling that I might be the only person that gets the gist of what a specific director is trying to say.

This film is one of those films, not obvious in what it tries to say, but after a few repeated viewings it is possible to get some emotive response.

This delightful, dark comedic film, gives us a view of some magical business, that appeals to each customer as they arrive. The main plot surrounds three middle aged women trying to get fuel after a shopping trip. They are offered something extra, and are faced by some strapping mechanics. The suggestive camerawork, and soundtrack build up a feeling of sexual arousal, peaking just as the car is soaped. The hose down is so obviously phallic, that we instantly get it all, as do the flustered ladies in the morris minor.

As they drive off, without fuel may I add, another car pulls in, and the circle continues.

This film will not appeal to everyones taste, but is an entertaining, fulfilling short.

Enjoy...
