Caroline Rhea is expected to be named host of The Biggest Loser, NBC's upcoming unscripted series that challenges contestants to lose weight. NBC announced the pickup of Loser, from Reveille, NBC Universal Television and 3 Ball Prods., in May, though it's uncertain if the network has settled on a premiere date. Reps for NBC and Reveille declined comment Friday on the prospect of Rhea signing on as host. When the show was unveiled in May, NBC described the series as a "life-altering" competition that would employ medically sound weight-loss techniques to help contestants change their lives and lifestyles without resorting to surgery to shed pounds. Rhea's credits include a seasonlong stint as host of her own syndicated daytime talk show strip, The Caroline Rhea Show, in 2002-03. She also starred in the ABC-Universal comedy pilot Plan B. Executive producers of Biggest Loser are Reveille principal Ben Silverman, David Broome and J.D. Roth. Rhea is repped by WMA.

New York -- Warner Bros. has sold a second window of its upcoming The Ellen DeGeneres Show to the Oxygen cable network. Episodes of the daytime talk series will reappear one week after their syndicated TV premiere Monday-Friday after 10 p.m. on Oxygen, which hasn't determined a particular time slot yet. Additional episodes will repeat during the weekend as well. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Ellen DeGeneres' sly humor is a perfect fit for the female-targeted cable channel's sensibility, said Debby Beece, president of programming at Oxygen. "She's edgy but funny, and that's what we are," she said. "I think this is a big win for us." More and more big-budget syndicated programs are looking to repurpose episodes elsewhere as a means of offsetting production costs. Warner Bros.' short-lived The Caroline Rhea Show earned a second window on ABC Family, and its upcoming The Sharon Osbourne Show will be repurposed on Wgn Superstation. Premiering Sept. 15, Ellen is cleared in more than 95% of the country, including NBC O&O stations.
