Somewhat interesting animated short
peefyn17 February 2015
I had not seen any of these Kapten Grogg-shorts before I saw this one, and I was positively surprised. It is obvious that the artist, Victor Bergdahl, is still experimenting with the animation, but over all it is not that bad, especially considering this is one of his first shorts. At some points the animation is pretty much line drawings, and not that interesting to look at. But other scenes has quite elaborate drawings, which leads to less fluid animation, but still not that bad. Particularly some of the scenes at sea are enjoyable. And you can see he put some effort into the captain's suit. The story is nothing that interesting. He travels to Africa and has a quick adventure there. And it goes without saying that the way the locals are portrayed is probably not politically correct anymore.

So: If you are interested in animation, and especially early animation, this short is well worth your time!
