Don't give up on this one...

Warning: Spoilers
Viewers who see this short might see it as an attack on people of faith. While this may or may not have been the goal of the film makers (heck, I'm not a mind reader), there's a lot to this story--and I know a guy who went through something a lot like this.

The film begins with a street evangelist standing on the corner in a seedy neighborhood handing out tracts. Across the street is a prostitute and the young preacher seems to keep noticing her. Later, you see them in a car together but it isn't sex that's about to occur--the evangelist has paid her to sit and listen to him witness to her. It's obvious she wants nothing to do with him, as once time is up, she grabs the money and runs. Later, however, you see that when this happens again, she's less quick to run AND he seems to have some interest in her beyond just evangelism. While exactly where this eventually leads is NOT shown in the film, it sure does make you think and wonder what might happen next! Exceptional writing and direction--this story is told in a clever fashion and is far from conventional. I like a movie like this that dares to be different.

Story, direction, acting, cinematography, editing are tight and powerful!

Story begins with a young, good looking, urban minister trying to convert a street corner prostitute by "hiring" her to sit in his car and listen to him preach.

Tension builds as the prostitute reluctantly but slowly begins to actually pay attention to his teachings as he gradually becomes more and more sexually drawn to her. This wrestling match between morality and desire creates tense and explosive performances complimented by the incredible photography of the film.

I felt like I was watching an early short by Martin Scorcese or Spike Lee before they launched their careers.

I highly recommend this short film and I look forward to the full length feature that I hear is coming soon.

A poignant look at modern, urban faith.

This film is a brilliant examination of one man's struggle with his own inner demons, even as he struggles to convert the soul of a young prostitute he meets. Rather than portray the "evangelist" as some kind of super Christian, or shallow hypocrite, the filmmaker reveals the real-life struggle with doubt and integrity, as well as mercy and compassion, that most honest Christians face in our very difficult and pain-filled world.
