Robert Pattinson is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors in Hollywood. He began acting when he was 15 with his first role as a Cuban dancer with no lines in the play Guys and Dolls at the local theatre – Barnes Theatre Club, which he had joined at 13 upon his father’s persuasion. His first lead role was as George Gibbs in the play Our Town.
Robert Pattinson’s plan to go to the university did not work out as he was shooting Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at the time. For someone who never considered acting for a profession in the first place, Pattinson has made some of the best Hollywood films. Not to mention that his least favorite movie project inspired Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard to get into acting.

For the second time in six years, the Best Actress category looked to be on track to feature nominees from films nominated for Best Picture. But just like six years ago, it came up short — and it once again involved Margot Robbie.
Annette Bening (“Nyad”), Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), Sandra Hüller (“Anatomy of a Fall”), Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”) and Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) made the Best Actress cut on Tuesday. Every film but “Nyad” is nominated for Best Picture. Gladstone, Hüller, Mulligan and Stone were all expected to get in, but Bening was in seventh place in the odds. Now a five-time nominee, she made it in over Robbie, who was in fifth place in the odds and headlines Best Picture nominee “Barbie” (Robbie is nominated as producer).

Oscar-winning legend Paul Newman appeared in dozens of films throughout his lengthy career, but how many of those titles are classics? Let’s take a look back at 20 of Newman’s greatest movies, ranked worst to best.
For years Newman was the perpetual Oscar bridesmaid, racking up failed Best Actor nominations for “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” (1958), “The Hustler” (1961), “Hud” (1963), “Cool Hand Luke” (1967), “Absence of Malice” (1981), and “The Verdict” (1982), as well as a Best Picture bid for producing “Rachel, Rachel” (1968). The Academy handed him an Honorary Award in 1985, only to give him a competitive prize the very next year for “The Color of Money” (1986). He scored subsequent bids in lead for “Nobody’s Fool” (1994) and supporting for “Road to Perdition” (2002).
The actor enjoyed a lengthy career behind the camera as well, winning the Golden Globe and competing at the Directors Guild Awards for helming “Rachel, Rachel,” which brought his wife,...

Tony winner Kenny Leon will direct a new Broadway production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town in the fall of 2024, the first revival of the classic play since the 2002 production that starred Paul Newman as the stage manager.
The production dates, cast, and venue will be announced at a later date.
Leon’s many Broadway directing credits include Ohio State Murders, Topdog/Underdog, A Soldier’s Play, American Son and the current Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch starring Leslie Odom Jr. at The Music Box Theatre. He won the 2014 Tony for Best Direction for A Raisin in the Sun starring Denzel Washington, Sophie Okonedo, Latanya Richardson Jackson and Anika Noni Rose.

There have been plenty of home invasion movies. And there have been plenty of alien invasion movies. So it only seems logical that there would eventually be an alien home invasion movie. Writer-director Brian Duffield has delivered just that with his sci-fi suspenser featuring Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, Dopesick) in a virtually solo, virtually silent performance as a young woman battling a formidable array of extraterrestrials who are definitely not of the cute and cuddly E.T. variety. Premiering on Hulu to provide scares through Halloween, No One Will Save You proves a singularly intense experience.
So intense, in fact, that it’s a shame that it’s been relegated to streaming. Deeply dependent on its imaginative sound effects, powerful visuals and nerve-jangling score by Joseph Trapanese, the film would benefit greatly from immersive theatrical viewing.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from the series finale of “Riverdale,” which aired on The CW Wednesday, August 23.
The end of “Riverdale” has arrived — after seven seasons of milkshake-drinking, love triangles, crime- solving and one incredible bear attack. The CW’s teen drama-turned-supernatural phenom finally wrapped up on Wednesday night, but not before throwing in a few more major twists.
The finale, titled “Goodbye, Riverdale,” jumped ahead 67 years. Betty (Lili Reinhart) is in her 80s, and is the last remaining alive member of the Riverdale crew. The night before she dies, she gets a visit from the ghost of Jughead (Cole Sprouse), who takes her back to a day when she missed school, revisiting all of her friends and finding out what happened to them after high school. For a full breakdown of where everyone ended up and how they all died (!), read our full recap.

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the series finale of The CW’s Riverdale.
Goodbye, Riverdale.
After seven seasons that included multiple serial killers, at least one human sacrifice, lots of drug trafficking, an organ harvesting cult, a parallel universe, and time travel in the name of saving the town from an impending comet…the eclectic series has come to an end.
The CW series bid farewell to its characters during a heartfelt episode on Wednesday which saw Betty (Lili Reinhart) at the end of her life. She’s just learned that Jughead (Cole Sprouse) has died, meaning she’s the last of the original crew still alive. As she expresses to her granddaughter that she’d like to visit Riverdale one last time, she’s visited by a younger version of Jughead, who offers her one last chance to spend a day in high school with her friends.

Chicago – There are two exclamation points behind the new Richard Linklater (“Boyhood”) film, “Everybody Wants Some!!,” and that could also express the exclamation energy of the cast. Will Brittain, Tyler Hoechlin and Blake Jenner portray college students before the new fall semester in 1980.
“Everybody Wants Some!!” is a quasi-sequel to Linklater’s popular “Dazed and Confused” film of 1993. It possesses the same nostalgia, the same styles/attitudes, and the same spirit as “DandC,” and it is set four years after the events of that film – except now it’s a Texas college instead of a Texas high school. For persons who grew up in that era, it will be a warm look back, and for everyone else it will evoke laughs on how we all used to live, and what we used to wear while we were living without Facebook.

Let me start by admitting something that I’m not proud of.
When I first learned that Allison Williams had been cast as Peter Pan in NBC’s Peter Pan Live, I was gleeful. I absolutely could not wait to sit down in front of the television—with a platter of sad tacos—and savor the schadenfreude of seeing Marnie from Girls unleash her theater-geekdom on national television. And apparently, I’m not alone. Not everyone is happy about this news. Some have blamed the casting on nepotism. Critics like to suggest that Williams and other Girls stars are only...

One of my more memorable interview calls took place last week when I picked up the phone and heard “Thrill Me!” on the other side. When you starred in movies like the Fog or Halloween III, did you think that they would have such a strong following thirty years later?

It's been days that Paul Newman died, but honor keeps rolling in for him with the latest one coming from Broadway theaters which will dim their lights to honor the late actor. At 8 P.M. Friday, October 3 all Broadway theaters will remain dark for one minute to give regards to him.
Remembering Newman, who besides his on-screen projects also appeared in five Broadway productions, Charlotte St. Martin, the executive director of the Broadway League, said "For over half a century Paul Newman has graced our stages and inspired our souls with his brilliant talent." Remembering Newman's stage appearances, Charlotte continued, "After beginning his illustrious career on stage, his love for theater continued throughout his life as demonstrated by the Newman family's support of the renowned Westport Country Playhouse. Off-stage, his tireless devotion to philanthropic work has enhanced many lives and worthwhile causes."
"His presence everywhere will be missed," Charlotte concluded.

Paul Newman, who combined Method training with matinee idol looks to become the personification of the cool '60s rebel in such iconic roles as the reckless Hud, the defiant Cool Hand Luke and the hotshot Butch Cassidy, died Friday. Surrounded by friends and family, including his wife, Joanne Woodward, the actor and philanthropist passed away at his farmhouse home near Wesport, Conn., after a long battle with cancer. He was 83.
In a film career that spanned nearly six decades, Newman received seven Oscar nominations before he was finally presented with an Honorary Oscar in 1986 "in recognition of his many and memorable and compelling screen performances and for his personal integrity and dedication to his craft."
But then he pulled out a trump card of his own, winning the best actor Academy Award the following year for "The Color of Money," in which he reprised the role of pool shark Fast Eddie Felsen,...

In what would be her first screen role in 10 years, Oscar-winning actress Joanne Woodward is expected to co-star opposite husband Paul Newman in HBO's adaptation of Richard Russo's best-selling novel Empire Falls, which Newman is executive producing with Marc Platt and Scott Steindorff, with Fred Schepisi attached to direct. The project, a comedic look at blue-collar life in the depressed Maine mill town of Empire Falls, centers on Miles Roby, a fortysomething decent guy stuck running Empire Grill, the town's most popular eatery, for 20 years. Woodward would play Francine Whiting, a controlling and manipulative widow who owns Empire Grill as well as almost everything else in the dead-end town. Newman has already been attached to play Roby's ne'er-do-well father in the telefilm, which Russo adapted from his novel. Woodward's last onscreen performance was in the 1994 CBS telefilm Breathing Lessons, which earned her Golden Globe and SAG awards, as well as an Emmy nomination. Woodward won an Oscar for her role in the 1957 feature The Three Faces of Eve. Woodward and Newman have appeared together in more than a dozen films, most recently the 1990 feature Mr. & Mrs. Bridge, which landed Woodward Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. Last year, Newman starred in the play Our Town at the Westport (Conn.) Country Playhouse, where Woodward is artistic director. Woodward is repped by ICM.

Actor Paul Newman has made it clear he'll be staying away from next month's Tony Awards - despite being nominated for his efforts in Our Town. Newman was also one of the actors who pulled no-shows at the Oscars last month. Nominated for his gangster turn in Road To Perdition, Newman lost the supporting actor award to Adaptation star Chris Cooper. Newman notified the producers of the June 8 Tony awards of his decision by letter to Isabelle Stevenson, chairman of the American Theater Wing, co-presenters of the awards with the League Of The American Theaters And Producers. The actor reportedly stated that not only does he stay away from awards ceremonies nowadays, he no longer owns a tuxedo.
