Funnier than insightful (listen to the audio commentaries for that)

The treat about Monty Python in interviews are that they would get serious, but really only at the expense of more silliness. Here there is some of that unmistakable Python sarcasm, with maybe all of one or two minutes out of the whole twenty on the actual 'making' of the film. We get fake, hilarious stories from Eric Idle and Michael Palin, as well as some general (great) nuttiness from Terry Gilliam (he sounds far more excited than on his later interviews) and Terry Jones. Chapman and Palin are there too, with more complaints and fabrications and such. Basically, the BBC, or whoever did this on-location behind the scenes look at Python making the Holy Grail knew what they got would be what they got (there is also a glimpse of the scene at the French castle, fake cows and chickens and all). And it's a rather delightful little companion piece; if you want all the real insight (this is on the special edition DVD of Holy Grail, by the way) there are the two separate commentary tracks, and also a present-day revisiting of all the locations.
