The Best Syphon Filter Game So Far...
Salzamander21 April 2008
Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain is just about the only game in the series to finally catch some attention. Although you do not play as Logan himself, you get to do something even more fun: create your own agent. This game is not as easy as the last 3. It's got twists for the plot, it's really difficult to beat, and guess what else? A certain someone dies in this game, she's the blonde assassin that's been causing ruckus since she tagged along with Logan in part 1. This game should've been for the PS3, no doubt about it. There's tons of levels and just about every one of them is difficult, and I don't mean that you'll never beat them, I certainly did. This installment for the PS2 is certainly a buy. For about 30 bucks, this game is worth giving a try. Even my dad liked it, and he doesn't even play video games! You also get some new weapons, including the Phython, Sniper(which has night vision), and the all-new shotgun.

Good game online or off, but better online

Warning: Spoilers
I think this is a good game, yea it is a little hard but I like the turn the series is taking and look forward to the PSP version. Omega Strain is more online based and you cannot complete the game to 100% without online parts (certain missions require a teammate). You can beat the game but without a teammate (online) you cannot complete one or two objectives of the missions and therefore you cannot receive certain awards (for example in the first mission, Carthage I believe, there is a laptop you must recover but you can only do it online, and to receive an award for exemplary service you have to complete 100% of the first 3 missions, and to get certain other awards you have to earn the exemplary one). There are quite a few things that simply cannot be unlocked all offline. Don't get me wrong, its still an incredible game offline, there is TONS that you can get offline. I don't have the broadband adapter for PS2 so I cannot comment on the online portion, but if it is as good as single player, it is quite good. The overall quality of the game is very high.

Mixed feelings about this one
PUNISHERmoviefan6 November 2004
I don't know whether to like this game or not. It's MEGA HARD. This is because it's not like the last three games where it was mostly all shooting, now you do more disarming bombs and using you brain to get through levels which is kinda dumb. I would suggest you buy Syphon Filter 1, 2, or 3. Because you will frustrate yourself with Syphon Filter: the omega strain. It's worth a rental to see if you like the 4th. And by the way there's a fifth game coming which will be called Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. I hope the fifth isn't like the 4th, I hope they just go back to the way the first three are, which was more of a shooting game.

All in all, I give Syphon Filter: the omega strain a 5 out of 10.
