Taking the Westside (2003) is a shot on video mess that tries to promote Christian fundamentalism through a bad movie. If you're going to make a cheap movie at least make a decent script, read a book about film making and find some actors who know how to act. The on site audio is pretty bad but not as bad as the voice overs. If you're going to speak into a microphone please stand away from the mike! Listen to your final product before you send it out for distribution. What happened to Danny de La Paz? this man was a fine actor. It's a shame Hollywood doesn't care about many of their ethnic actors. He's highly underrated as a thespian.
The "movie" follows a convict who tells his life story to a fellow convict and it is padded out so it can be at least 70 minutes long. I don't know why it was rated R, maybe so it can draw in a few people who were dumb enough to watch this tripe. I could tell you more about this video but that would be telling. The cover of the D.V.D. has people on it that are nowhere to be found in the entire picture. Maybe the director should thing about post dubbing, with the actors lips away from the microphone. They also could use some lighting, any kind of lighting.
Not recommended, unless you want to be preached to for an hour.
