Music and Politics
Keep_Searching18 December 2005
"Get Up, Stand Up" is an interesting, intelligent and impressive documentary which treats the great influence that music has on the political events in the countries throughout the world. The 6 parts of the film include various events and persons who are connected with music and politics. The struggle against the racial discrimination in the USA,the battle against the hunger in Africa and even the war in Iraq are discussed by people such as the famous singer Pete Seeger or actors like Martin Sheen who are involved in the political events. This documentary makes you think of the great iniquities that politicians commit but also shows us people from the show-business who are not afraid of telling the truth. The symbol of the documentary is the great song "We shall overcome".

Excellent and Intreging Documentary

Get Up, Stand Up is an excellent documentary which I am currently watching on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) it has excellent interviews with stars such as Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Ice T and many more. The documentary not only talks about the music but also the inspiration and events behind the music. This documentary does not just focus on historical events but more recent events such as the Iraq War. This documentary is simple enough for someone of younger age to understand and to keep them interested while still catering for the older generations. I hope you will take the time to watch this documentary you will learn a lot.
