Sex & Nudity

  • In the missions "Pearl Castle" and "Briar gate", one of the rooms has a large painting of a nude woman. However, it is meant to be artistic rather than sexual, and it is difficult to see any actual nudity.

Violence & Gore

  • This game is a tactical first-person-shooter, so much of the time the player is going to be killing virtual enemies. That being said, most of the violence is not particularly graphic or any worse than what one would expect from a game in this genre. Some blood is present, but there is never any gore.
  • Whenever someone is shot, a bit of bloody mist will be visible and may splatter on any nearby wall. A puddle of blood will also form around the dead body. There is no gore however.
  • There are some minor explosions, most of which are caused by grenades or explosive red barrels, but there is no gore whatsoever.
  • Some missions will require the player to rescue hostages from terrorists. If the player is not quick and careful, the hostages will be executed by their captors. It is not very graphic, but it is a bit intense and some blood appears.
  • Two of the missions are set in a meat-packing plant, where the skinned/butchered carcasses of cattle can be seen. It is not violent/bloody or anything, but it may be a bit gross to some.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Nothing in this game is particularly frightening, but some missions may be fairly intense due to their difficulty or complicated objective. Some perfect examples are "Broken Stone", "Shattered Glass", and most hostage rescues.
  • As this game requires lots of precaution and careful preparation/performance, suspense builds up as the missions are carried out, which may be unnerving for some players.
  • The missions "Crimson Hook" and "Broken Stone" are set inside a meat-packing plant, which has a rather unsettling and creepy atmosphere to it. Crimson Hook is more frightening due to it being set at nighttime with many barely-lit rooms.
  • If the player fails to rescue a hostage, that hostage will be killed by a terrorist. It is not intense or particularily graphic, but it might be a bit disturbing to some players.
  • Overall: Even though this game is rated M, it is actually very mild when compared to most games that receive this rating. Be aware that it involves lots of shooting and killing, but the enemies are terrorists. The ultimate goal in the game is to protect the innocent and stop the terrorist threat, so it also has a very meaningful message, despite the violence. Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield is appropriate for ages 13 and up.
