- The Keeper of the Crypt (John Kassir) says that the audience will look at something disgusting: himself. Then, he says that we are gonna be nauseated by the story of the day.
Cathy (Demi Moore) is a secretary who is eager to become a gold digger. Her friend Sally (Kate Hodge) from the office has recommended her a medium. Madame Vorna (Natalia Nogulich) says that Cathy will have been fired and then have a different job by the end of the night. Cathy thinks that that's impossible, as her boss is away this day.
Back to the office, she tells her friend Sally what a loss of time the medium was, and insults her boss. He had to come back to the office, so he hears Cathy's comment. He dismisses her not because of her rude comment, but because it took her an hour and a half to have lunch. Out on the street, the owner of a strip joint fires a waitress, so he calls out to Cathy asking her whether she wants a job. Cathy accepts and she realizes that Madame Vorna was right.
Vorna tells her that she'll marry a man who will inherit a fortune, and he'll die of a violent death shortly after. Cathy meets heavy Charlie Marno (Jeffrey Tambor), a fat man with a face full of spots. That man is a bit freaky and scares Cathy into running away. Vorna reassures Cathy on her future: she only has to find the man who will marry her, inherit the money and kick the bucket soon afterwards. Cathy and her friend enjoy thinking about the horrible ways Charlie may die in the future. Cathy and Charlie start going out: he is unkempt, dances terribly badly, laughs out loud, is eating a lot, stamps on the table when he laughs... At the end of the first date Charlie kisses Cathy, and she can't help but throw up as soon as she thinks he's not watching.
Finally, he asks her to marry him. She insists on knowing his background, and he mentions a rich uncle. Knowing that, Cathy promises to marry him. The wedding night is a nightmare for Cathy, but she has to abide, as she's married to him now. He's rude, and disgusting, and uses her as a housewife. She even turns to alcohol to put up with everything. She says that she has got a migraine not to have sex with him. Inquiring further about that uncle of his, he says that his uncle has got a family of his own.
Cathy runs to Vorna to complain. The medium insists that she's always right. Leaving the place, Cathy is the one-millionth customer in the store and she has won a one million dollars. She is overjoyed when reporters (Joe Lerer & Phyllis Hamlin) surround her. Cathy goes back home only to pack her things. She tells Charlie what she really thinks about him.
Charlie wants to say to her one last thing, so he picks up a huge knife and kills her. He stabs her over and over again, as if he can't have her, nobody will.
A reporter tells about Cathy's life: her husband was sentenced to die in the electric chair, but he had inherited the money from Cathy, now dead.
Another customer (Raina Manuel) visits Madame Vorna to ask how much it is. Vorna says that it's 20 dollars, payable in advance.
