1950's Coronation adventure brought vividly to life
thedevil__himself7 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
A lost little treasure from the 1980's , made by HTV WEST television and broadcast as Sunday family entertainment if I so recall. It is notable for being a breakthrough series for the likes of Nigel Harmon from Eastenders, and Lee Ormsby , who is currently playing a bad copper in Emmerdale. What I liked most about 'The Honey Siege' was it's evocation of 1950s English rural life.

From the memories of those around at the time ,life was more innocent then and this series brings that out quite vividly, much like an Enid Blyton story. The drama is played out amidst the nostalgia of the Queen's Coronation. Life is (was) so sleepy for these children, that the breaking of a local beehive is a most dramatic and serious event that rapidly escalates out of control.

It's well worth checking out if a copy ever surfaces from the archives.
