Bit-players in movies are the people that can actually make a huge difference if they’re not there, but when they are there they tend to be the people that the main actors are paid to overlook. In other words they’re the ones that fill in the spaces in the room and in the conversation so that the dialogue can run smoothly and the scene can play out the way it needs to. They’re the unsung backbone of the movie that makes it run by being as quick to the point as possible before blending into the background once again. Ben

Ever since Evil Dead: The Musical exploded onto the scene and landed on Broadway, it has evolved to become a unique experience to be enjoyed by all. Some people, producers included, see it as more than just a show. It is a night where the love for film and the performing arts work very well together to entertain. "We evolve the show every time," said Chance Newman, director of Last Chance Productions, "We've never done the show the same way. And when we see something that’s not working, we throw in something else." Newman's academic background in film and years spent in musical theatre proves to be a perfect synthesis of how genres can cross over. With more than thirty years in both disciplines and also in him hosting haunted attractions during Halloween, he says that it was just a natural fit for him to produce this northwest version of the show.

If you happen to see Lemonheads founder Evan Dando today, go ahead and give the guy a hug. Do it for two reasons. First, he could probably use it. And secondly, it's his birthday today. The Boston-born indie rock icon is now 44 years old, and over those four decades and change he has cranked out some of the best jangle-and-mumble jams in indie rock history.
Dando formed the Lemonheads with friend Ben Deily in 1986. The group signed a deal with local label Taang! Records (which drove Dando to drop out of college) and recorded the albums Hate Your Friends, Creator and Lick. By 1989 they had generated something of a following, but Dando bolted the group for a short time, only to come back for a European tour.
By the time the band signed to a major label and released Lovey in 1990, Deily had left the band and they were on their way up.

In one of our Late Night posts last month, we told you that Isaiah Mustafa -- otherwise known as the ever-popular "Old Spice Guy" -- had found himself roles in both Horrible Bosses and Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. It wasn't a surprise. You've got to pay attention to a man who can not only fill the shoes left by one Bruce Campbell, but also make his commercials a hit.
Now, though, he's lost one of those roles ... but don't fret. Mustafa might be losing one bit part, but he's also gaining a starring role.
