the real Young and the Restless

A fine example of ambitious, and motivated cats with a story to tell about their own place in the world, this movie could've gone wrong at almost any point. And although there are moments of over dramatic dialogue, the film stays it's course, tells it's story, and gets it's point across. Kudos to Sean Regruto (sp)? and his quirky and excellent casting of Athena. She dominates. Most performances are great. One exception being the ridiculous club owner guy, who walks us to the kitchen, complete with too on the nose rant-and-serve drug scene. Regruto does a fine job in walking a razor thin line of actor-director, when most times when this occurs, a film always ends up being a self-important romp through a daily life that we usually don't care as much about as they do. Regruto's world ends up being uncomfortable, depressing, and although the movie lends itself to only one possible ending that we all fear coming, Regruto manages to "shoot around" the highly dramatic ending with a powerful, stylish, and subdued form. This movie is for ANYONE who wants a realistic look at the pathetic nature we as a culture place on outside beautification. If your daughter wants to be a model, rent this now.....
