Warrior Poets, the New York-based production company founded in 2004 by filmmaker Morgan Spurlock and his producing partner Jeremy Chilnick, has promoted Matthew Galkin to partner. Galkin will continue to executive produce, direct and develop original content. Producer Daniel Laikind has been tapped to succeed Charlie Corwin as CEO of Original Media. The post had been vacant since October, when Corwin was named co-chairman and co-ceo of Original parent company Endemol North America. Laikind will oversee reality development, including first-run unscripted cable television programming. He will be based in Original Media’s New York office. “Daniel has had a profound impact on the unscripted genre in both long form and short form and is known for creating edgy, quality content,” Corwin said. “I love his work.” Laikind co-founded Stick Figure Productions, where he served as President of Development and Production, overseeing such series as Amish In The City (Upn), #1 Single With Lisa Loeb (E!), Family Bonds (HBO) and Kimora: Life In The Fab Lane (Style). Sex and the City may have inspired a potential new HBO series. The premium cable channel is finalizing a deal for an unscripted comedy pilot from Sex co-producer and writer Amy Harris described as "an attempt to capture the vivacity, sexuality and friendship of women in a big city under the banner of a reality show," sources said. HBO declined comment on the pilot order, a rarity for a network that leans heavily on scripted comedies, dramas and longform projects. But HBO has dabbled in some reality series in recent years, including Family Bonds and Project Greenlight.
