Five Stages of Grief
nogodnomasters23 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
For those of you missed "Misery" we have a watered down version. Alex (Nicholas D'Agosto) is a voyeur and not a very good one. He gets caught by a couple while in their house. They believe Alex is their dead son Timmy who has come back to them as he is held prisoner after his accident.

Started out good with Alex approaching Crispin Glover type of creeper. Leighton Meester added a perky klepto character that was for the most part wasted. This is a film that is available on multi-packs which may be the best way to buy this one.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Twisted take on Misery. Video quality production. But well done, intelligent script and decent acting.
Bababooe13 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This came in a multi pack dvd with some garbage movies like Prophecy (Christopher Walkin) and Howling IV. So, I was not expecting much, except maybe some laugher. No laughter to be found here. What we have is a young man, who's parents were killed, working in the library, who happens to be interested in watching and stalking people, even going into their homes. He is befriended by a cute/punk chick that he was stalking. He then stalks a couple by going into their house. He is discovered and they befriend him rather than calling the cops. Apparently the couple's son died a year before. He spends the night on the couch after watching TV. When he leaves he gets run over by a hit and run driver. The couple take him in, both legs busted, and nurse him. The couple at first, especially the wife, are very friendly and just want to befriend this young man. But then the wife thinks he is their dead son returned. The husband doesn't buy into that at first, but he too also believes he is his son. After a few days they treat him like he is their son. The guy realized these people are nuts and just wants to leave. Tons of tension.

It is well acted. And the screenplay is decent. It's low budget and the video quality shows. It played out that possibly the kid was the one that was sick, maybe amnesia. If it wasn't for the grave beneath the one they buried him in, this mystery may have continued to the end. Rather than the punk chick rescuing him at the end, I guess a better ending may have been if the kid got out of the grave somehow and killed the wife and husband. And we find out that they were not really crazy, that he was really their kid. Hey, just an idea.

But as it's shown, this is a good movie. If you can go past the low budget video production.

Rating C, or 6 stars.

Upsetting, depressing, disturbing, and pretty good.
duckman_07924 September 2020
Being an overly emotional parent, and an empathetic son with regrets, I found this movie to be everything in my review topic. I don't think the protagonist deserved any come-up-ins. And I felt bad for the kidnappers the whole time. This isn't my kind of movie, and it moved a bit too slow. But it was a really good story and a good movie. With that said, and since I'll want to see it again some time, I think it's deserving of a 6 rating.

The movie made by aliens who never have seen a human being in their life
dunlopluke22 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Watching the "characters" interact with each is one of the most bizarre and unsettling things you can do to yourself. The best I can describe it is as follows. It's like an alien race has obtained the blueprints of a human (having never seen a human in its natural habitat). None of the characters are likeable, the film drags on, and one character was inserted solely to progress the plot towards the end of the movie because the writer wasn't capable of having the main character escape on his own. I'd warn about spoilers but this movie blows. Some bad movies are entertaining but this movie is a prison.

Terrible
Briabba28 December 2021
This film is included in a boxset of horror films. Clearly misplaced. The only horror is the time lost viewing. Walk, no RUN away. The only positive I can share is that the acting is good. If only the story were not so predictable.

This has to be a joke?
Bel-7629 March 2009
I wrote a review for this movie back in 2006 and apparently it was deleted (hmmm...wonder WHY). Probably because I was the only SANE person who agreed that this movie was a MAJOR stinker. In fact, it still resonates as one of the worst movies I have ever seen at the Florida Film Festival. I go to the FFF many years, and this is one of the worst movies I have ever watched at a festival. It was so bad that my husband and I laughed at how cheesy it was during most of it. AND the audience was pretty much in agreement. At one point when Timmy (or Alex) hold up the sign that says "I am not Timmy" the audience erupted in laughter. I don't think this was supposed to be a comedy, was it? Listen, I am not here to just completely TRASH this movie. I understand this was this director's first movie or whatever, however when I come and read all these positive reviews I am just SHOCKED. Are the folks reviewing this related to the director? If they are, shame on them for not telling him that the movie stunk and should not have been making the rounds at festivals. And it WON an award at some LA film festival? I kid you not my mouth is just hanging wide open in horror right now. I think I have said enough! PS: Sorry to the director, I do not know you and I am sorry that I feel so strongly about your movie. I am sure you are swell guy.

not bad

Warning: Spoilers
i thought this movie was pretty good. i saw it a while back at a film festival, and that may have helped my overall impression. the audience was with it the whole way. *_*_*_ SPOILER _*_*_*-*_* Once the first big twist happens (an off-screen accident that was kind of cheesy, but still worked) , i felt like the movie was deflated a little bit. still, good first time effort. i'm not sure what the director has in store for us next, but i'll bet it will be a marked improvement. he does have a way of getting under your skin which is definitely a gift. i think this type of challenging material probably requires actors who are very experienced and comfortable in front of the camera. some of the actors here...to put it mildly would not qualify. if Mahler gets a chance to work with a bigger budget, i'm sure he'll be able to get actors who qualify.

puzzling ending
jeffa12324 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
its hard to discuss this at all without immediately getting into spoiler alert. this thing reminds me of many m night shamalan films where the it gets off to such a good start, then the 'twist' lets all the air out of the balloon

this one is that way. first half is very good. keeps you interested and has your mind wandering about many possible story outcomes.

then it takes a turn down a path that only has one logical conclusion, based on the prior evidence

but guess what? it doesn't go there in the end! the way it ends unravels much of the prior story. if *this is it, then none of it fits together without some utterly astronomical coincidences

off to a good start, then falls flat with the incredulous ending

Off to a good start
grindcore6930 March 2006
As a first time director and a small budget I wasn't expecting anything amazing. But must I say it was enjoyable and there was some suspense in there. Acting wasn't the best but better than a lot of movies I have seen, it could be do to the fact of who the main four characters are, their personalities were meant to be different. I wasn't happy with the lighting and some of the shots were a bit bland, but overall I think it is a well deserved watch. The story was a great idea, and Leighton Meester character was so cute, you had to smile each time she was on screen.

Hopefully he does well in the festival circuit.

Smartly written, directed and shot
DAFTCOHO25 September 2006
This film was extraordinary in its solidarity and intrigue. The performances are great all around, the events were harrowing, and most of all, the story is a complete, together exploration of the psychological consequences of loss.

Now pretentious babble aside, I really do admire this film because it does not do the cheap easy way, as many indie filmmakers do, of leaving a majority of events unfinished or unexplained, in an effort to portray some sort of hack message. Inside does not do this, and actually makes you think without forcing it. This film is satisfying, unpredictable and well shot.

I saw this film at the fantastic film fest, where the director did a Q&A afterwords. Hes got a lot of talent, and I cant wait to see what he does next.

Solid Film; I Loved It!
dramaclub0116 October 2011
I stumbled across this film at a video store, and decided to watch it. I absolutely adored it, flaws and all.

The film is not really for someone looking for a gory slasher movie; it's more a psychological drama/thriller about three emotionally damaged people who never quite dealt with issues that they needed to deal with. I thought the actors in this film were absolutely riveting, especially Nick D'Agosto and Cheryl White.

It's a slow-moving film; which adds to the palpable tension all throughout, and I like that it keeps you guessing while feeling firmly grounded in reality. The characters were deep and three-dimensional, and it was fascinating to watch their psychological neuroses unfold on screen to what I believed was a satisfying climax.

Well Done!
antwanette11 June 2014
From the storyline and direction. Kudos. The suspense and mystery was definitely there. I found myself screaming at the television a few times wondering whats to happen next or guessing the finale. I was expecting so many different outcomes and totally didn't expect the ending along with the message on grieving and coping with lost ones. I enjoy a good eerie movie and each character had a unusual presence which kept you wondering who's the crazy one here. Cheryl White (Alice Smith) was awesome. She nailed her role visually and in performance. But overall with a few locations, a small cast, and a small budget. Quite impressive and well thought out, I can't wait to see more of the director's work! A must see if you are into original Suspense/Thriller flicks.

Quite An Underrated Film Filled With Deep Messages
FilmMan478 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
before i saw this film i was not sure what to expect as i was sensing some supernatural or horror genre but this is totally the opposite it was release a decade back with unknown and new cast the budget was low the dialogs are slightly over the top but the script and execution is outstanding hats off to the director plus this film is deep and does have a lot of messages like when its time to let things go when you some loved one is no more how to overcome it however its not totally about that its about what in between happens the process its a lesson about collection if you love collecting things one day they go or either you go in the grave it doesn't matter if it yours or not one day you have to let it go.

the plot:Alex is a young boy who works at a library one day he reaches out to a strange a depressed couple things slowly turn as he is taken hostage by them because he looked like their dead son Timmy.

the cast:almost everyone deserves an applause for the performances i did liked Cheryl White and Leighton Meester.

the director knew what he wanted the result is amazing the film has a lot of hidden messages about everything but obsession is the main topic as the couple was crazy to hold some kid like that for days.

Overall Inside 2006 is gone unnoticed as hardly any critics or people have seen this so if i have to tell what are my favorite films from the last decade this one is definitely on the list for being very underrated my rating is 8/10:its recommend by me a must watch.
