At the beginning William H. Macy says that there's nowhere that you can't be reached anymore. Obviously he's never tried making a cell-phone call from my apartment.

Larry Cohen tells an interesting story at the beginning of this documentary about conversations that he had with Alfred Hitchcock about the screenplay for Phone Booth, which gives you an idea of how long he's been kicking that idea around. Also, the theme of extraordinary things happening in ordinary places probably explains why Hitchcock found it interesting.

Unlike one of the other documentaries that accompanies Cellular, "Celling Out," this one is actually about the making of the movie and is pretty impressive. There are interviews with all of the major cast members and plenty of good footage from the set, which I also found particularly interesting because I have been to so many of the locations on which the movie was filmed. It's interesting to watch a movie being made and to know exactly where they are and what that environment is like.

At one point in the documentary someone claims that Chris Evans, who plays Ryan, is the next Tom Cruise. He turns in an impressive performance, but I wouldn't go THAT far. Just as I would disagree, despite the fact that director David Ellis says "dude" a lot, that he is "the" dude. David Ellis is NOT the Dude. Jeff Bridges is the Dude.

Other than that, this gives a pretty good look at the making of the movie, especially a lot of the stunt scenes and car chases, for which they utilized some pretty impressive film-making techniques. Worth watching.

This special program is located on the features menu on the DVD of the excellent movie Cellular starring Kim Basinger, Chris Evans, Jason Stratham, William H. Macy! Featuring in interviews in this brief making of the film Cellular are Kim Basinger, Richard Brenner, Larry Cohen, Douglas Curtis, Dean Devlin, Annie Ellis, David R. Ellis, Tawny Ellis, Chris Evans, Freddie Hice, Jaymes Hinkle, Lauren Lloyd, William H. Macy, Chris Morgan, Art Rochester, and Jason Statham! Therew are some amazing parts of this feature. One in the scene when the cement truck crashes into the car! Evans explains how cool it was for him to be standing twenty feet away from it! Another part was the scene in the film where Stratham grabs Basinger. There was only one take in that scene and Basinger didn't know what was going one! I was very surprised by that! Also what is talked about is that the actors did most of their stunts in this film! The Producer Dean Deviln has a good amount of screen time on this feature so if you are one of his fans then this'll be good for you to check out! I thought that this was a great feature I recommend this and I strongly the thrilling film Cellular!

Cellular has been compared to Phone Booth favorably. That is ridiculous. Phone booth was extremely clever in its usage of a small space to tell the story with interesting characters (especially Collin Farrell, Keefer Sutherland and Forest Whitaker), clever plot twists, witty dialogue and even interesting background colors to the sets, whereas Cellular had to crash cars all over Los Angeles to barely advance the story. None of the characters in Cellular were interesting enough to make me stay on the line if one of them called me. They were all extreme stereotypes (good mom, nice kid, good cop, bad corrupt cop) without any interesting quirks that would have redeemed the movie. Very one dimensional multimillion dollar crap with a lot of product placement and very little story. Nokia obviously paid the big bucks and figured as much in this movie as the human actors did. It had a good idea and started out promising but deteriorated rapidly into Starsky and Hutch territory. Don't bother with this.
