Exclusive: Creatives behind Buried, [Rec] (pictured) and Kidnapped join for English-language thriller.
[Rec] writers Jaume Balagueró and Manu Diez, Kidnapped director Miguel Vivas and producers Adrián Guerra and Núria Valls of Nostromo Pictures (Buried, Red Lights) are joining forces on thriller Inside.
Looking to replicate the commercial success of female-driven genre titles from Spain including The Orphanage, The Others, [Rec] and Mama, the remake of Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s 2007 French horror À L’Intérieur follows a recently widowed mother-to-be living in an isolated new home who receives a most unwelcome visitor: a predatory woman who will stop at nothing to snatch her unborn child.
Trapped and disorientated, the young mother must unleash all her reserves of strength to protect her baby and survive the night.
Embankment Films will launch sales on the project at the upcoming Afm with the production aiming for a February 2016 shoot. Casting on the film is underway.

The most memorable indie horror films almost always manage to push some boundaries or, at least, venture into places that some may consider brutal, disturbing, or simply distasteful. When an audacious independent horror-maker produces something like Martyrs, A Serbian Film, or The Human Centipede (the first one, anyway), we celebrate (in part) because a team of filmmakers had a strange, dark vision and (more importantly) had the courage to put something "dangerous" up on the movie screen. Even when the "over-the-top but we do have a point" approach goes awry (I'll spare you two dozen examples; feel free to choose your own), a horror-loving viewer can still appreciate the effort. Fortunately the new import from Mexico known as Here Comes the Devil falls into the group of old-school, dead-serious horror stories that delve into some legitimately unsavory places. Although it's ostensibly a "killer kids" movie on the exterior, Here Comes...

And the Doctor Who updates – and spoilers – just keep coming. Today we have for you the titles of those first five episodes of the season that we all keep talking about. Remember, those are the episodes that are airing before the Christmas episode when we meet the new companion. In other words, the first five episodes are the Ponds episodes.
They are:
“Asylum of the Daleks,” by Steven Moffat
“Dinosaurs on a Spaceship,” by Chris Chibnall
“A Town Called Mercy,” by Toby Whithouse
“The Power of Three,” by Chris Chibnall
“The Angels Take Manhattan,” by Steven Moffat
Now here comes the slightly spoilery part. We have synopses for the first three episodes, but they’re the kind of synopses that networks provide, that you’d read in TV listings. The interviews that follow also allude to the info in the synopses. If that’s too spoilery for you, you may...

On April 22-23, Asbury Park, NJ will once again be taken over by the most toxic film festival in the world! (That’s a good thing.) The 12th annual Tromadance is two days and nights filled with depraved cinematic abuses that will leave you a shattered, emotional wreck. (That’s a good thing, too.)
This year, the fest will screen three feature films, a buttload of shorts, plus two mini-retrospectives.
The features are: 1. Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s gonzo The Taint, a social satire filled with so much gore and sexual degeneracy you might want to wear a raincoat to the screening; 2. Joshua Grannell‘s horror spoof All About Evil, starring Natasha Lyonne and Cassandra Peterson about a psychotic film auteur who kills people on camera; 3. Miguel Angel Vivas’ brutal assault film Kidnapped.
Some of the short film highlights include Victoria Cook‘s triumphant return to Tromadance with Devil...

SYDNEY -- Hot on the heels of the Lionsgate output deal it signed earlier this week, Australia's Nine Network has further boosted its program inventory, signing a new exclusive output deal with Sony Pictures Television International. The deal, announced Thursday, is headlined by Sony's new series Kidnapped -- scheduled to premiere later this year on NBC in the U.S. -- and includes Australian rights to Sony's slate of television series, miniseries, first-run feature films and library product. "This is an important relationship for Nine. Sony is one of the world's most successful and powerful studios producing the sort of shows we're sure Australian television viewers will love," Nine chief executive Eddie McGuire said.

NEW YORK -- New York Gov. George Pataki said that his pilot tax incentive, the Empire State Film Production Credit, will continue beyond its proposed 2008 expiration date and will become a permanent program for qualifying film and television productions as part of his 2006-07 executive budget, scheduled to be released this week. In addition, the current $25 million state cap in aggregate tax credits per calendar year will be upped to $30 million in 2009. Pataki, speaking Friday from a faux upscale home on the set of Kidnapped, Sony's pilot for NBC Universal at Silvercup Studios, had Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa and other production execs and actors by his side. "Man, has it worked", he said of the pilot program. "Let's make it permanent, so some entrepreneur will say, 'This isn't an experiment. This is law.' "...
