Nice to see Body Count live, shame it's not the best video!

When I first saw this DVD on ebay I was really excited. I remember when I first heard Body Count as a kid on a Metal Hammer sampler CD, and have been into them ever since (about the past 10 years I guess). This DVD shows their 34 minute set from Cypress Hill's Smoke Out festival in 2003. The set itself isn't too bad, the band are pretty tight and Ice-T keeps the crowd well entertained, even if they couldn't manage a real mosh pit.

Unfortunately 34 minutes is pretty short for a set from a metal/rock band, and half way through the set Ice-T gets hassled by the organisers to only play 2 more songs! This seems kinda weird since they were taping the show to put out on DVD, and the crowd seems to be enjoying the set. Of course, Ice ignores them and plays another 4, but even this does not bring the set up to a reasonable length (although this is always a problem at festivals, the band you want to see never gets a long set while someone you really don't want to see gets the 2 hour headline set).

All in all, this DVD feels like a bit of a rip-off, or at least would if I'd paid RRP for it (though I got it off ebay for a few $s, which makes it even cheaper on £s). The Body Count set is quite good, with a new song off the album Ice-T says they were recording at the time (although I can't find anything about it on his website, even now, 3 years later), but far too short for a proper DVD release. Can't comment on the extras as my PC won't let me access the DVD's menu, seems to have issues with playing region 1 DVDs (damn you MPAA, with your profit hike DVD region system!!!)
