Sex & Nudity

  • Nothing, except for one scene. When the competitors are woken early, there is less than 1 second of explicit full frontal male nudity.
  • One scene in Season 17 explicitly talks about the mens' penises and one woman goes to see their sizes.
  • Many contestants are shown in the dorms in undergarments and rare cases of rear nudity. Nothing explicit is shown, concealed by camera angles or blurred.
  • There are sexual references both verbal and visual in almost every episode. Some of them are very graphic, but some seasons are worse than others. Some contestants are attracted to each other and talk about sleeping with them but nothing is ever shown.
  • Many contestants both male and female are shown in swimwear in almost every season. It is non-sexual but very revealing sometimes. A Season 10 episode features a fashion show with lots of female models in swimsuits.
  • Occasional suggestive dialogue. The contestants sometimes wear very revealing apparel, but never nude.
  • In season 9, it's heavily implied that Carrie and Brendan have sex in the dorms.

Violence & Gore

  • Some chefs are sometimes seen injuring themselves, including cuts in which blood is sometimes seen.
  • Many contestants threaten to get violent but none do. Some contestants even threaten to fight Chef Ramsay, with 99% of the violence in the show being verbal.
  • Chef Ramsay is shown to never stop being furious at his aspiring chefs, screaming and swearing at them, throwing things whenever they mess up preparing the food, and harshly reprimanding them. Even to the point of kicking them out of the kitchen, making them re-do making and preparing the food, and at the boiling point, shutting down the kitchen altogether and ordering all of the customers to leave.

Profanity

  • Some episodes contain strong language, creative and comedic but often vulgar insults directed at people, which may be seen as offensive.
  • There is infrequent strong language.
  • Any word that's stronger for a TV-14 rating is bleeped out on TV and some digital download releases. The DVD releases are uncensored.
  • Extensive uses of extreme profanity throughout is continuously and frequently said in the series, especially in the uncensored version.
  • There are several uses of minor profanities such as "shit", "dick", "hell", "damn", "bitch", "bastard", "ass", "piss", "crap", "goddamn", "cock" and "asshole".
  • Constant swearing from Chef Ramsay in every episode.
  • Name calling, such as "donkey" (meaning "jackass" is used also), "idiot sandwich", "donut" (slang for "stupid/idiot/fat"), etc.
  • Chef Ramsay swears in EVERY SINGLE episode, with at least 30 f-words per episode.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Contestants sometimes get drunk.
  • Alcohol is served at almost every dinner service. Many of the challenge rewards involve alcohol. Contestants often drink in the dorms.
  • Many contestants are shown to be smoking in the dorms.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Contestants often get into very heated arguments that can be very intense. Arguments often feature graphic language and insults. Many contestants threaten to get violent but very little actual violence in the show. Some of the eliminations are very emotionally intense as well.
  • On some occasions.A customer will approach, Ramsay at the pass only to be insulted and sent back to the table by the chef. However, it's highly likely that this done purely for entertainment purposes.
  • Chef Ramsay's anger moments (almost all episodes) are intense to watch.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In the final of season 20. Chef Ramsay calls to the two finalists to the dorms. He reveals that during a random search of the dorms by security, several packages of unspecified drugs, were found in the dorms. He hands the packages to the two contestants and he demands to know who smuggled them in.This, however turns out to be a prank and the packages actually contain the chef jackets that the finalists wear during the final dinner service.
