The Best JFK Documentary Ever!
hugely18 March 2006
A remarkable remembrance of those dark days in Dallas. The severity of the happening, the ultimate chase, the political infighting and the resultant mistakes in judgment all go to explaining how very human and frail such an event quickly becomes. While one tends to blame the Dallas authorities for what was thought to be an alarming malfeasance, these personal memories and juxtapositions help those who weren't there understand more about how such a momentous event could have occurred. Oddly enough, those who DID see and feel that weekend agree almost 100 percent that Oswald and Ruby were lone perps. It's stark, but it's honest. Not like Oliver Stone's opportunistic "JFK."

Headline should be "5 men shot, 3 dead"..........
Panamint5 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
There were 5 shot (Kennedy, Connally, bystander Tague, Officer Tippet, Lee Oswald). Three of these men died.

Gov. Connally disputed the Warren Commission version of events immediately and continued to dispute it in every forum public and private until the day he died many years later.

The assassination of Oswald on everyone's TV screens also traumatized the nation. Someone should make a follow-up show called "Oswald: Breaking the News".

There is no film of Oswald himself shooting at anything. There are no photos or films of Oswald in or around Dealy Plaza at all that day.

No witness ID's Oswald from Dealy Plaza. Only one witness saw someone shooting there but couldn't ID who, not even in any of the three (3) police lineups Oswald was in before he died.

No witness put Oswald himself on the sixth floor of the building at the time of the shooting. Not even his co-workers.

There was no trial of Oswald.

Oswald was very adept at hiding his activities and shady associations (and he had many). So adept that you really can't prove that he was (or was not) part of a conspiracy.

NBC's Tom Brokaw said (I believe in 1999) that there might be "a million" more govt documents still secret, some to be released as late as 2050. This after thousands were released in the 1990's (with heavy "redactions").

The news was broken in 1963 but with only circumstantial evidence, and the November 22nd evidence was never used at a trial. Therefore, the Warren Commission had to postulate the two (2) Lone Nut theory, and they said themselves that it was only a theory.

What definite news was broken that day? Only that four men were shot (Kennedy, Connally, bystander Tague, Officer Tippett). Two days later the news was "broken" that a fifth man was shot: Oswald. Once you get beyond these basic facts you get into vague territory.

Remember, no film of Oswald, no witnesses against him, no trial, and all those still-secret documents.
