Ubisoft’s single-player Star Wars Outlaws will have a season pass, meaning players will have to pay more money to unlock a Jabba the Hutt mission.
Despite being a single-player affair, Ubisoft’s much-anticipated action sandbox Star Wars Outlaws will have a season pass. This is, as you’re probably aware, a polite term meaning that extra stuff is locked away behind a paywall.
In the case of Star Wars Outlaws, this extra stuff includes a mission featuring Jabba the Hutt – a character whose presence in the game has been heavily trailed since it was revealed last year.
On Ubisoft’s website, it plainly states that certain elements of the game – most prominently the Jabba’s Gambit mission – will only be accessible at launch for customers who buy the more expensive Gold or Ultimate editions. These cost £104.99 and £119.99 respectively.

Elon Musk, the chief executive of Tesla, appears at a U.S. Air Force event in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 7, 2022.
Technology mogul Elon Musk has started re-verifying the accounts of some prominent journalists on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), reversing a plan to charge reporters and other high-profile users for the privilege of a blue verification badge.
On Wednesday, Musk confirmed plans to offer a free subscription to X Premium (formerly Twitter Blue) if a user managed to accrue more than 2,500 “verified subscriber followers,” and free access to a higher level of Premium — called Premium Plus — if the user had at least 5,000 followers.
It wasn’t clear what Musk meant by “verified subscriber followers.” The platform currently offers a feature that allows people to charge followers for access to posts that are hidden behind a subscription paywall, though not all Premium users take advantage of this feature.

Gamers have been waiting for Bethesda’s Starfield since 2018, and a lot has happened since then. Most notably, Microsoft purchased Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax Media, and turned Starfield into an Xbox exclusive along the way. As such, many gamers who have been waiting for Starfield are now using the title as a barometer to judge the merits of that acquisition. While the game will not officially be released for another week, the game’s upcoming Early Access period will allow some people to learn earlier than others if the game is worth the hype. Well, at least they’ll have to chance to learn if they pay a little extra money, that is.
Here’s everything you need to know about Starfield‘s early access period:

In a sign of the times, Peacock and independent network Reelz have struck an unusual carriage deal putting the linear channel and on-demand programming onto the NBCUniversal streaming service.
Taking effect tomorrow, the pact will add exposure for Reelz non-scripted hit On Patrol: Live, the police docuseries hosted by Dan Abrams, who had been behind Live P.D. on A&e. New episodes of the show, which is produced by Big Fish Entertainment’s Half Moon Pictures, will be available live on Peacock on Friday and Saturday nights, with on-demand access the following day. Other series of note on Reelz include On Patrol: First Shift, Jail, Cops and Autopsy: The Last Hours of…
Terms were not disclosed in a press release announcing the deal. The task of securing carriage in a shrinking pay-tv ecosystem has become a daunting one for programmers, especially for general entertainment. From its peak of more than 100 million homes a decade ago,...

Cobra Kai is sweeping the leg of exclusivity to YouTube, now set to seek a new platform.
In a surprising development as news remains dry on the long-awaited third season of Cobra Kai, the series—the undisputed showcase scripted attraction of YouTube’s premium subscription service—is exiting the platform, with production company Sony Pictures Television now fielding offers from prospective new platforms, according to Deadline.
YouTube officially ordered Cobra Kai Season 3 back in April 2019 with full intention to host the new frame. However, over a year later, it has since shifted away from scripted television, a move that left Cobra Kai and Liza on Demand as the only active scripted shows on the roster. Thus, while the offer to premiere the reportedly-completed Season 3 was still on the table, YouTube opted not to order Cobra Kai Season 4. Yes, as surreal as it sounds, YouTube Premium essentially canceled its Cobra Kai crown jewel,...

Captain America: Civil War and Deadpool are among the movies nominated for the People’s Choice Awards 2017.
As two of the most successful releases of the year – and not just in terms of the lucrative superhero genre – confirmation that Civil War and Tim Miller’s R-rated romp are up for awards shouldn’t be all that surprising. They both feature in the ‘favorite movie’ category, and will be competing against Finding Dory, Suicide Squad and the barnstorming Zootopia in two months’ time. Voting is open from today, November 15, and you’ll be able to cast your vote right up until December 15. Expect the winners to be officially announced at the Microsoft Theater on January 18.
Nominations are spread across 64 individual categories, and you’ll notice that Captain America: Civil War and its leading stars crop up on more than one occasion. The People’s Choice Awards 2017 also recognizes the very best...

Once again, I’m thinking you movie fans out there will be interested in a documentary about filmmaking. It doesn’t have the all-star cast of something like Side by Side or the classic film clips of These Amazing Shadows, but Click Here should still be on your radar if you care about not just cinema but all visual storytelling in the digital age. Its full title is Click Here: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Making Movies, and it’s a project led by Pete Chatmon, who directed the early Zoe Saldana movie Premium and who teaches production at Nyu. He also won the Tribeca Film Institute’s Creative Promise Narrative Award in 2008 for a script that, five years later, has yet to be produced. That frustrating experience is what inspired him and co-writer Candice Sanchez McFarlane to embark on this other endeavor. Their scope appears to be very wide, as...

I’ve been wanting to do this for some time – a periodically (maybe annually) updated list of up-and-coming black filmmakers, especially those working mostly outside the mainstream; something we could call “black filmmakers to watch,” preceded by a year, not-so unlike Filmmaker magazine’s annual “25 New Faces of Independent Film” list.
As I’ve already made known on this blog, I’m not necessarily a fan of lists, especially ranked lists where the arts are concerned.
However, I do see Some value in providing black cinema enthusiasts like yourselves (or cinema enthusiasts regardless of race) with the names of noteworthy black filmmakers who may otherwise go unnoticed by the the mainstream press, and even indie film publications like Filmmaker magazine. We’re celebrating those black filmmakers… propping them up, you could say. If a site like ours doesn’t do that, we certainly can’t complain when more prominent media outlets don’t.
