The pleasure is all ours
This is one of the four featurettes on the DVD of The Mask, and one of the shortest of them. It consists of interviews, clips of the film(the majority of them used for comedic and/or ironic effect, and it works), behind the scenes footage(basically all of it being from her audition tapes) and pans and zooms on still photographs. The focus, obviously, is Cameron Diaz whose big break was her considerable role in this movie. They talk about the choice of casting her, how the part was written, the dancing, wanting someone who wasn't already a "name", etc. You hear the entire story that ends in her having the role, and it's rather a fun and interesting anecdote. It's well-edited and sharp. The pacing is great, not a moment of the 13-minute(well, twelve without credits) running time is dull. Hotness Incarnate herself only appears in this in archive stuff, and the same goes for Jim Carrey. Apart from brief disturbing content, there is nothing bothersome in this. Of course, I am now going to have to wonder... how can there be hundreds of ways to hold a tie and say it looks like a Rorschach test? I recommend this to any and all fans of the flick. 7/10
