Dean McDermott has a bone to pick with Candy Spelling. The Canadian actor says that his soon-to-be ex-wife Tori Spelling’s mother should have done more to support her daughter and her children when they were struggling financially.
In a November 2023 interview, McDermott slammed Candy, who inherited $500 million from her late husband Aaron Spelling when he died in 2006. But Tori – who filed for divorce from McDermott in March 2024 – received just a tiny sliver of her dad’s estate. In the years since his death, the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star has struggled to pay her bills and at one point was reportedly living in an Rv with her five kids. McDermott thinks it’s only right that Candy step up and help out Tori in her time of need.

Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier played it coy but could not hide his enthusiasm at the prospect of having a new Beverly Hills’ 90210 series on the network.
“If 90210 was coming to market, I would very much love to see that Fox would be a highly considered home for that,” he told Deadline during TCA.
There is a such a series, featuring most of the original cast of Beverly Hills, 90210, which was taken t market in December. As I previously reported, Fox, which aired the 1990s staple, has been described as being “most passionate” about the project from CBS TV Studios, with ABC and CBS TV Studios siblings CBS and CBS All Access also said to be among the outlets bidding on the series. A deal is expected soon.

Not long after its release in the summer of 2008, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull usurped Temple of Doom as the most fan-loathed entry in the long-running Spielberg-Lucas adventure franchise, thanks in part to a host of corny/unbelievable moments. Most infamously: the scene where Indiana survives a nuclear blast by hiding out in a lead-lined refrigerator. So notorious was the gag that it spawned the oft-cited "jump the shark" variation "nuke the fridge," used to denote the moment that marks the creative decline of a popular film franchise or TV series. So whose idea was "nuke the fridge," anyway? And while we're at it, who should we blame for the rest of Crystal Skull's most controversial elements? Below, I've provided a full accounting of five of them, followed by an indictment of the guilty party(ies). (Note: HitFix was unable to verify the authenticity...

Zachary Quinto appeared on a slew of TV episodes in the early 2000′s (my favorite – “Hip Student” on Six Feet Under), but he gained real notice as Adam on 24 and as Tori’s gay Bff Sasan on So NoToRIous. His star continued to rise as the villain Sylar on Heroes, and it went warp speed when he won the role of Spock in the new Star Trek franchise.
Zachary continues to branch out in numerous directions, with roles on American Horror Story and most recently, taking Broadway by storm in a well-received turn in The Glass Menagerie
Today is his 37th birthday, so let’s take a look back at some highlights from Zach’s already impressive resume.

Washington, November 9: Tori Spelling has revealed that she would never sell the sex tape she made with her husband Dean Mcdermott on St. Valentine's Day in 2009.
The 40-year-old American actress said that she has received big money offers from porn companies for her sex tape, but she insisted that she wouldn't even consider selling it, Contactmusic reported.
The 'So Notorious' star had opened up about the saucy footage in her new book which prompted porn movie mogul Steve Hirsch to offer Spelling a lucrative deal for the sex tape. (Ani)...

New Castle season 6,episode 7 small teaser spoiler & title hit the net. Recently, the people over at the Huffington Post delivered new spoiler teaser intel for the upcoming Castle episode 7 of season 6, via a new casting they've done. They also served up the title for it, which is called, "Like Father, Like Daughter.” It turns out that they've hired actor, James Carpinello (left) to come on and play character, Frank Henson, who is described as being "a man incarcerated on death row for a murder he claims he did not commit. Castle Beckett, and Alexis will soon get involved in the case." So, it sounds like that whole mess will get quite interesting to say the least. Frank will, of course, just be a guest character for one episode. James Carpinello's acting credits, includes roles in: "Mob Doctor," Gangster Squad,The Good Wife, So noTORIous, and Broadway stints in "Saturday...

His villainous turn as Dr. Thresdson in FX's "American Horror Story: Asylum" may have earned Zachary Quinto his first Emmy nomination, but for a certain subset of his fan base, he'll always be remembered for a character with a strange-sounding name. (Hint: It begins with an "S.")

The misadventures of Jenna Hamilton will continue into Season 4.
MTV announced on Monday (Aug. 5) that they were ordering a fourth season of its critically acclaimed comedy "Awkward," though it will be the first without the guidance of creator Lauren Iungerich.
As previously reported, Iungerich departed the series at the end of June, as production on Season 3 was wrapping up. The network hoped to renew the Ashley Rickards-starring comedy for another season, but a replacement for Iungerich needed to be found first.
Deadline reports that Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler have been locked in as new showrunners. The two previously co-created the VH1 comedy "So noTORIous" starring Tori Spelling and most recently worked on the CW's "90210."
The back half of Season 3 of "Awkward" will air this October.

MTV has renewed Awkward for a fourth season, tapping new showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler to run it, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. Alberghini and Chessler will replace creator and former showrunner Lauren Iungerich, who left Awkward after the comedy wrapped production on season three in late June. The duo previously co-created VH1's Tori Spelling series, So noTORIous, and also worked on The CW’s departed 90210 update and Reba. Over the last year, MTV and Nickelodeon have tapped into viewers' nostalgia by resurrecting a few of their long-gone but still-beloved series for special runs to much fan fervor.
Nickelodeon kicked off the trend last March with the invention of their midnight to 2 a.m. '90s Are All That block, featuring reruns of Rugrats, Kenan & Kel, Pete & Pete, The Amanda Show, All That, and Clarissa Explains It All.

AfterElton sat down with the director to talk about how you put the gay in a Lifetime movie, his thoughts on the state of gay films and (gasp!) he spilled the beans to us about picking up with Christian Campbell and Jp Pitoc in a sequel to Trick.
AfterElton: Holiday films are so specific in a lot of ways but as a director do you approach them differently than you would another project?...

RedLever studios and Emmy Award-winning producer Jonathan Prince launched web series SuperMoms on Facebook and Joost today. The series stars Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy, The Break-Up), Julie Warner (Nip/Tuck, Tommy Boy), Lourdes Benedicto (V, 24) and Brennen Hesser (So noTORIous)—four women who are not only super moms but actual superheroes, faced with the challenges of both dirty diapers and dirty tricks from their arch-enemy, Dr. Deconstructo. The eight episode series features a retro-style (reminiscent of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog) that blends live-action and animated superhero story lines, with new episodes debuting Tuesdays on Facebook. The series—not-so-subtly sponsored by Clorox—successfully targets its demographic, shrewdly identifying favorite topics of momdom: blind dates, girl talk, cats, mother-in-laws, makeovers, and, of course, firemen (...and "epic battles against chaos," too). But SuperMoms also reinforces some...

While discussing his eight months playing a character who abandons his AIDS-stricken boyfriend in the New York City revival of Tony Kushner's Angels in America, Quinto told the magazine: “[The role was] the most challenging thing I’ve ever done as an actor and the most rewarding. Actor Zachary Quinto has 'come out' as a gay man in a new U.S. magazine interview, ending speculation about his sexuality.
The Star Trek star, who played a homosexual character in TV sitcom So NoTORIous, had previously refused to clarify his sexual orientation, but now Quinto has spoken out about his personal life in a revealing interview with New York Magazine.
In the article, 34-year-old Quinto recalls his recent stint in Off Broadway show Angels in America, in which he portrayed Louis Ironson, a man who abandons his AIDS-suffering boyfriend.
He says, "Doing that play made me realise how fortunate I am to have been born when I was born. And to not have to witness the decimation of an entire generation of amazingly talented and otherwise vital men. And at the same time, as a gay man, it made me feel like... there's still so much work to be done. There's still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed."
Quinto again refers to himself "as a gay man" later on in the interview when addressing the current Occupy Wall Street protests, which has seen thousands of people take to the streets across the world to call for equality for all and an end to corporate greed.

Mark Harris is a contributing editor for New York magazine and posted the tweet above yesterday, presumably in reference to a Zachary Quinto interview to appear in an upcoming issue. What to make of this?
It was less than a year ago that Quinto shut down a brief Q&A with New York mag for asking "too personal" questions. It's quite possible Harris' tweet is being disingenuous by referencing, say, Quinto being out and about in Manhattan and proud to be working on American Horror Story.
If so, that's really shoddy of Harris. But if this guy is really saying that Zachary Quinto will in fact be coming out as gay, then... well, that's sort of shoddy too. He's essentially stolen Quinto's thunder.

Tori Spelling is a very good sport about things, it seems. Now that she’s a star of reality television and what not, she has even more money to do…whatever it is she does. What does she do again? Design jewelry and sing robot music and sh*t? Isn’t that what happens after you start on a moderately popular reality show? Whatever it is that she does, she couldn’t have gotten there without “her gays,” as so many traditionally unattractive women often say. Tori likes them and they like Tori, so much that they went and made a funny video about it. And it is funny (reminds us of the short lived So NoTorious)! But, more importantly, keep your eye peeled for Crazy Sally Kirkland. Oh wait, that’s Clay Aiken. No, wait, that’s Sally Kirkland. No, wait, It’S Both Of Them!!! [via Towleroad]...

After 10 seasons on the small screen, fans of Fox's primetime soap "Beverly Hills, 90210" (1990-2000) can relive the magic without guilt. After all, the date is 9/02/10.
"Chuck" executive producer Josh Schwartz tweeted a fan-made video of a "Gossip Girl" opening to "Beverly Hills, 90210's" iconic 1990s theme. Star Jennie Garth, who was a regular for the entire 10-season run said via Twitter, "Love to the original cast and crew. And the new kids too."
Logo from Season 1 The original hourlong drama introduced us to a slew of stars (and two-time Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank) both past and future, and a decade after the show ended its run, several castmembers went on to other projects. But would they be able to sustain success in their post-"90210" careers?
The biggest surprise -- and possible discovery -- was Swank's 16-episode arc as Steve Sanders' (Ian Ziering) girlfriend Carly Reynolds in the ninth season.

After apprenticing with some of the most prolific casting directors in the business, Brett Greenstein and Collin Daniel decided to join forces and strike out on their own. Five years later, the duo, based in Los Angeles, boasts a wide array of credits, ranging from the family-friendly comedies "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Rita Rocks" to the much-hyped "Melrose Place" reboot. The partnership works, says Greenstein, because they both like to have fun and are "even-keeled, mild-tempered people." Adds Daniel, "At the end of the day, we're just casting a TV show; we're not saving the world here."Career PathBrett Greenstein: I was working at a film production company and I was being groomed for a development-executive job. We were prepping a movie, "Nurse Betty," and I came to the realization that what I loved most about making these movies is the casting process. I thought that was the...

The 'Beverly Hills 90210' star – who has been embroiled in a feud with Candy since 2006 – started speaking to her mother again in September when they were hospitalised at the same time, and Tori insists things now couldn’t be better. She told ‘E! Online’: "It's just a blessing that it happened around the holidays. And it just makes me think, 'Wow, it's an amazing thing and it happened this year and it's just the best gift we could get.’ "We're together as a family, and that's the most important thing. We're very lucky." The pair first fell out when Tori mocked her mother on her reality TV show 'So NoTORIous' and the feud was then exacerbated after Tori's late father and Candy's deceased husband Aaron left his daughter a derisory amount in his will. Candy, 64, recently said she was looking forward to a wonderful Christmas with her daughter and two grandchildren,...

We've all had that friendship that was cut short for whatever reason — because your family moved, because you switched jobs, because you were a "greaser" and they were a "soc" — and we're left to wonder: what might have been?
The same is true for gays on television. Television programs are canceled for a lot of reasons, and it's definitely not always because of a lack of quality.
But what if these characters had stuck around a little longer? Who knows what kind of adoring or intimate relationship we viewers might have developed with them?
Here are a few of the folks I'd like to rescue from the Island of Lost Gay TV Characters:

The 64-year-old author is “thrilled” to have reconciled with ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ star Tori – who she has been embroiled in a bitter feud with for years - and is looking forward to a happier future. She said: "I'm looking forward to a lot of wonderful things. We have done this privately, which is what I've always wanted and I think so did Tori, and I'm really thrilled." Candy is currently working on her first Broadway show, ‘Promises, Promises’. However, she doesn’t think her work will ever be good enough for Tori to star in. She is quoted by website E! Online as saying: “I don’t know that I’m as good as she is. I’m sorry, but I have to be generous there. She’s been doing it for so long. She’s much more of a pro than I can ever be.” Candy and Tori started speaking...

The 'Beverley Hills 90210' actress started speaking to Candy - who she has been feuding with for years – started speaking to her mother again back in September when they found themselves hospitalised at the same time, Tori for a stomach problem and Candy for back surgery. According to E! Online, Candy was even allowed to see her grandchildren, 18-month-old Stella and Liam, two, for the first time in over a year, which then set the wheels in motion for a reconciliation. Last April, Candy published an open letter to Tori on her website, stating that she wished to end their feud, but she then declined an invite to Stella’s first birthday party in July, because she didn’t want to be on their reality programme, the 'Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood' show. Heroes star Zachary Quinto has leaped to UTA.
With his roles on one of TV's top series, Heroes, and in one of the most anticipated movies, the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek, the actor has become a hot commodity, sparking the interest of major talent agencies.
Quinto, who had been represented by SMS Talent for the past several years, took meetings with several big agencies -- ICM, WMA and UTA -- before making the decision.
Ultimately, it may have come down to persistence. UTA has been aggressively pursuing Quinto for the past two years since he starred opposite Tori Spelling on VH1's So Notorious, which the agency packaged.
"Their interest and support of my work had been so strong, that it factored heavily into my decision," Quinto said. "I found them to be the most excited, enthusiastic and consistent in their pursuit."
Quinto follows the familiar Hollywood path of breakout actors, who often are developed by a smaller agency before they are scooped up by one of the big full-service agencies that offer them career expansion into new arenas including producing and endorsements.

Tori Spelling insists that the feud with her mother Candy has nothing to do with her divorce and re-marriage, but with her mother's relationship with a Beverly Hills businessman. Rumors of a rift between the two first surfaced in September 2005 when Tori separated from her first husband, Charlie Shanian, and took up with then-married actor Dean McDermott. The buzz grew stronger when the actress launched her semi-autobiographical sitcom, So Notorious, in which her mother is portrayed as a shallow shopaholic. Aaron Spelling, the amazingly prolific television producer whose hits ranged from Charlie's Angels to 7th Heaven, died Friday after suffering a stroke last Sunday; he was 83. Spelling passed away at his Los Angeles home, where he had been resting since his stroke on June 18, for which he was briefly hospitalized. Born in Dallas, Spelling was the fourth son of immigrant Jews and grew up in poverty on the self-proclaimed "wrong side of the tracks," ostracized in his early years because of his religion and orthodox parents. After serving in World War II, he enrolled and later graduated from Southern Methodist University, quickly moving to Hollywood, where he worked briefly as a bit-player actor (he was a gas station attendant in an episode of I Love Lucy) and married the actress Carolyn Jones (later of The Addams Family fame) in 1953; they later divorced in 1964. Spelling found greater success as a writer for such shows as Playhouse 90, and soon was hired as a producer by Dick Powell for Four Star Productions, and his first hit was the crime drama Burke's Law, starring Gene Barry. After Powell passed away, Spelling teamed with actor-producer Danny Thomas, with whom he scored a major hit in The Mod Squad in 1969. At the dawn of the 70s, Spelling signed an exclusive contract with ABC, a network his programming would come to dominate for the next decade; former ABC programming chief Leonard Goldberg joined him as a producing partner in 1972. The two produced innumerable television films (including The Boy in the Bubble, starring heartthrob John Travolta) before striking series gold with action shows SWAT, Starsky & Hutch and The Rookies, as well as the acclaimed Emmy-winning drama Family. It was a trio of huge hits, however, that cemented Spelling's fame and success: the Saturday night revolving guest-cast shows The Love Boat and Fantasy Island, and the phenomenally popular Charlie's Angels, which launched the careers of Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith (among others) and single-handedly invented "jiggle television," shows featuring beautiful women in revealing clothing. Other shows followed -- Hart to Hart, Hotel, Vega$, and TJ Hooker among them -- before Spelling struck gold again in the 80s with Dynasty, a pop-culture phenomenon that challenged the popular soap Dallas and for one season was the number one show in the country. Oftentimes, his Los Angeles mansion, which he bought in 1983 with second wife Candy Spelling and boasted 123 rooms, a bowling alley, swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis court, screening room and four 2-car garages, was compared to the excesses of Dynasty's fictional denizens. When the quintessential 80s show was cancelled, Spelling found himself for the first time without a series on the air, which he said caused him to fall into a major depression. Nevertheless, after a year Spelling was back, this time with the teen soap Beverly Hills 90210, which helped launch the fledgling Fox network as well as his daughter Tori Spelling's acting career, a circumstance she would later affectionately spoof in her own comedy series, So NoTORIous. Spinoff Melrose Place quickly followed, as well as a number of other California-set series that were less memorable. Still, even into the new century, Spelling found himself with two hits on the WB network: the witchy fantasy Charmed, which ended only last season, and religious family drama 7th Heaven, which after a brief cancellation earlier this year was resurrected by the new CW network for the upcoming fall season. Though derided for his shows' superficiality, Spelling preferred to call his hits "mind candy," and his success and endurability was also marked by acclaimed programming that included the TV films The Best Little Girl in the World and the Emmy-winning AIDS drama And the Band Played On. Spelling also produced a number of feature films, including Soapdish, California Split, and Mr. Mom. Spelling is survived by his wife Candy, daughter Tori, and son Randy Spelling. --Mark Englehart, IMDb staff...
